Indiana Making a Push for Theo Pinson

Theo Pinson is one of the most talented and sought after players in the Class of 2014, and he holds list of offers as long as his arm.

Yet right now the 6-foot-5 small forward from Greensboro (N.C.) Wesleyan Christian says Indiana is working as hard as anyone for his services.

“I took a visit there last weekend and it was a good experience,” Pinson told SNY.tv from the USA U17 trials in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“They’re up and coming. They have very good players there now and they’re trying to just rebuild and rebuild so they can get a national championship.”

Pinson said Indiana was among the first schools to text him once coaches were permitted on Friday, along with Louisville and Georgetown.

“[Indiana head coach] Tom Crean texted me, but the assistant coach from Louisville texted me,” Pinson said.

As for Louisville, Pinson said: “They have a winning tradition and they all play hard and Coach [Rick] Pitino is a great coach.”

On Georgetown, “They’re always in the dance. They just have to over that hump of the Sweet 16, the Elite Eight. They’re just looking for players to come in and contribute to the team and make plays.”

Pinson then rattled off a list of other scholarship offers from Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Baylor and Wake Forest, among others.

Pinson said he has no plans to cut his list or take any other visits as of now because he is focused on making the USA team for the 2012 FIBA U17 World Championship in Lithuania June 29-July 8.

“It’s an honor just being among all the other players that are here,” Pinson said. “It’s just an honor.”
