Tyler Harris to Providence

Tyler Harris is headed to the Big East.

The 6-foot-8 Long Island native opted to transfer to Providence from N.C. State, choosing the Friars over Temple, Dayton, UAB and South Florida.

“He has developed a great relationship with (head) coach (Ed) Cooley and (assistant) coach (Andre) LaFleur,” Torrel Harris told SNY.tv. “He believed in them, how they would utilize him to be a major contributor to the team and he looks forward to competing in the Big East.”

Harris, the younger brother of Milwaukee Bucks forward Tobias Harris, will have three years of eligibility remaining after sitting out next season, per transfer rules.

Harris averaged just 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds as a freshman.

He originally chose N.C. State over  St. John’s, Wake Forest, Providence, Iowa, South Florida and UConn.
