Washington Lands Williams-Goss

Washington has landed a verbal commitment from 2013 Findlay Prep point guard Nigel Williams-Goss.

The onetime UNLV commit also considered Harvard, UCLA, UNLV and Oklahoma.

“At the end of the day, I had to follow my heart and it was the University of Washington that I felt most comfortable with,” Williams-Goss wrote on his blog for National Recruiting Spotlight. “I felt that Washington met all the criteria that I was looking for in a school and basketball program.

“There is no substitute for a coach that has watched you mature over a time span of four years and stuck with you through thick and thin. The only two groups of coaches that I can honestly say have helped in my development as a person and player are coach (Michael) Peck and the staff at Findlay and coach (Lorenzo) Romar and his staff at Washington. And because of that I will always feel most connected to these two programs.

“I am excited and very thankful to God that he has blessed me with this opportunity to extend my basketball career at the University of Washington.”

The Rivals No. 4 point guard in the Class of 2013, he averaged 15.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 61 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3.

Playing with California Supreme at the Oakland EYBL stop this past weekend, he averaged 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists.

He is the eighth member of the 2011-12 Pilot team to select his school.  Six seniors have signed and he is the second junior (Christian Wood – UNLV) to verbal.

Findlay was 32-1 this season and won the ESPN National High School Invitational.
