Selden Hearing From Carolina, Kansas

PENNINGTON, N.J. — Wayne Selden holds offers from pretty much every major program in the nation but says he’s recently been hearing from a couple of bluebloods.

“I’ve been hearing a lot lately from UNC and Kansas,” Selden told SNY.tv at the Mary Kline Classic Saturday before helping the Blue underclassmen rout the Read team, 143-122.

The 6-foot-4 small forward from The Tilton (N.H.) School said Norm Roberts was recruiting him at Kansas, but wasn’t sure which North Carolina assistant had watched his games this summer with BABC.

The Rivals No. 13 small forward in 2014, Selden said he also holds offers from UConn, Kentucky, West Virginia, Ohio State, UCLA, Florida, Missouri, Pitt, Providence and Boston College.

Coming out of the Boston area, UConn always held special appeal for players like Selden.

“I can’t really say it ‘s a dream school but that was a school that everybody in Boston wanted to go to so now my list is opened up,” he said.

Despite UConn’s recent issues — they are banned from the 2013 postseason — Selden believes they’ll get back on track.

“Definitely,” he said. “I feel like they had a great program. Their history speaks for iteslf so i know with or without [Coach Jim] Calhoun there they’ll be able to turn it around.”

Selden will play in the NBA Top 100 Camp and the Chris Paul Camp this summer, and possibly the LeBron James Academy, too.

He plans to cut his list by the end of the summer to “five or six.”

“I just want to work hard and develop my game,” he said. “That’s all it comes down to.”
