Mark Lyons is headed to Arizona.
The Xavier transfer picked the Pac-12 school over Kentucky and Kansas in part because of his relationship with head coach Sean Miller, who recruited him while Miller was at Xavier.
A 6-foot-1, 188-pound junior from Schenectady, N.Y., who averaged 15.5 points and 3.4 rebounds last season, Lyons will be eligible right away.
“It was a lot of things,” he told SNY.tv by phone. “The program. I’ve known these guys since I was a junior or sophomore in high school. I have a great relationship with them.”
Arizona will add Lyons to one of the best recruiting classes in the nation that includes bigs Kaleb Tarczewski, Brandon Ashley and Grant Jerrett and guard Gabe York. Lyons also has a relationship with New York wing Kevin Parrom, whom Lyons hosted on Parrom’s visit to Xavier.
“The guys they got coming in, they welcomed me with open arms,” Lyons said. “Everything about this place is right for me.”
Arizona recently lost freshman point guard Josiah Turner to SMU (one year after Lamont “Momo” Jones transferred to Iona), and rising sophomore Nick Johnson is a natural two guard.
And Lyons is looking forward to playing some point for the Wildcats.
“He told I’m going to play point guard, that’s my natural position,” Lyons said of Miller.
“I’m looking forward to doing it. Â I haven’t done it that much in the past three years. I’m really looking forward to having this opportunity.”

Note to bill self and KU don’t recruit against ZONA, u can’t win bitches,we get who we want.
/
JESSlE WlLDCAT / May 6, 2012
I’m BACK. It was never a DOUBT that LYONS was BOOKED to ZONA. Kansas Gangster U was LUCKY last year, and their LUCK has run out. West is rising..
/
UofA BJ / May 6, 2012
Lmfao
He’s back bitches.
/
stevephoenix / May 6, 2012
There was no doubt that Mark Lyons was going to pick Arizona then the other schools. With the great recruiting class coming in & now with Lyons in there Sean Miller & the Cats will have a team to be reckoned with this upcoming season for sure.
The Cats are back!!!!!!!
/
fearthephog25 / May 6, 2012
Better to zona instead of kentucky. LOL Because nobody is even worried about the zona wildcats. The West is rising, a big thanks to Ben Howland and UCLA. LOL Bruins Pac 12 Champs, will zona make back to back NIT appearances?
/
kungpaochicken / May 6, 2012
Thug who’s averaged 2.6 APG and 41% from the field in his career at a mid-major. Add that he’ll be playing a new position and Miller hasn’t proven he can coach and it sounds like the UA trolls got their program changer.
/
SiJessieWildcat / May 6, 2012
LMAO… What up Zag. Some Wildcat followers like my Jessie Wildcat name.
ps- Kansas Gangster U will never learn.
/
SiJessieWildcat / May 6, 2012
I will tell you this. Kensucky will not win a title. No more NBA lock out to hold back 1-and-Dones.
No more title for Kensucky
Book that.

“I will tell you this. Kensucky will not win a title. No more NBA lock out to hold back 1-and-Dones.

This comment is retarded, we all hoped you died.
/
UofA BJ / May 6, 2012
I sense KU fans getting a little jealous of the loaded Arizona squad.
Your back 2 back nit comments show you r truly an idiot. KU doesn’t have half the talent zona has right now, but keep dreaming.
Preseason top 5 next year
5. UCLA
4.NC state
3. Louisville
2. Indiana
1. ARIZONA
/
zona95 / May 6, 2012
ahhh… so nice to see, yet another, battle of the wits by a bunch of 3rd-graders. who cares! kansas and arizona are BOTH great teams… get over it, and move onto something else!
/
UofA BJ / May 6, 2012
I disagree this 2012-13 KU team is mediocre at best.
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
blow job knows nothing, he just barely took his head out of the sand after eating crow. LOL
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
No visit 4 KU?
Wonder why?
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
As you already know, Kansas is and always will be Elite. We don’t hang NIT Participant Banners. LOL
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Who does?
Arizona 1 nit appearance last 60 yrs.
Why no KU visit 4 Lyons ?
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Goodluck blow job, we will all be watching? Well, can’t speak for all…because FSN is not available to the basketball world. They show the Pac12 games when the rest of the basketball world is sleeping. LOL Goodluck with that…will the Westcoast show up in March? Or will SDSU, New Mexico and Gonzaga have to shoulder the weight, West of Lawrence, KS.?
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Because Self doesn’t pomise playing minutes to anybody. He would have to compete with EJ and Tharpe for Point. zona needs lyons more than KU does at this point, perhaps lyons received word of Lawrence bound Adams Test Scores and chose the LESSER pac 12 competition over Big 12 Basketball.
Lets see how great your coach is in a very weak pac 12..no excuses now. Don’t wanna hear it down the road. Even a first round loss in THE BIG DANCE is unexcusable. Will you hide out again…thinking the dust has settled from your sorry excuse for attempted basketball??
Besides Jason Terry, what is arizona basketball? Nothing compared to MVP Paul ”THE TRUTH” PIERCE and Kansas Basketball.
P.S.
Looks like the OKC Thunder may win it all with 2 Jayhawks on the roster…Ouch!! I see Pac 10 stars like Westbrook and Harden doing work, must hurt you huh? After they both torched you guys so many times b4. HAHA OUCH!!!
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Airball like usual fear.
FYI PAC 12 will be better than bIg 12 this year.
Outside of Kansas big 12 is looking pretty down.
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Fear u know PAC 12 signed new deal with espn last year right?
So your tired fsn comments r getting old.
And if u can’t catch games just tune in to sc top 10 in the morning to catch all the highlights.
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Hmmmm.
Will college Gameday ever do to Tucson? Highly doubtful, I would say they go to Los Angeles first for the UCLA Return. I believe the pac 12 will get shown on ESPN…when WSU plays Kansas in CBE Classic. LOL How funny you are when you say the pac12 is better than BIG 12 BASKETBALL. Epic fail from a delusional zona fan, you probably think Oregon State is a National Powerhouse because of President Obama’s brother. HAHA LOL Let me guess, zona was robbed last season and zona powerhouse shoulda been invited to the NCAA’s? LOL Bucknell had other plans for for your five star team flameout. LOL How does sean miller lose with all them mcd’s aa’s? LOL One may ask….
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Ashley and jerret were millers first mcDs all Americans .
So please explain how he lost with all these mcDs all Americans?
Arizona, UCLA > any big 12 teams next year.
Stanford > any big 12 team other than KU
Baylor and Texas are only other decent teams in big 12.
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Oh lookie lookie who jumped on the UCLA Bandwagon. LMAO
This from a douche that said zona was going to win the pac 12 last season and booked his tickets to the Final Four. HAHA Just to witness KANSASA beat Ohio State for the second time – with ZERO mcd’s aa’s. LMAO What is your class going to get you this year, one NIT Win and then bounced? LOL It won’t get you to MSG Final Four NIT. Get some!!
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
I’m on the common sense bandwagon, and it’s obvious Arizona and UCLA will be better than KU next year.
Please tell me why KU will be an elite team next year please?
I’m dying to hear why they r even a sweet sixteen caliber team.
EJ, Withey, Releford,? Really? That’s who you r relying on next year 2 be a contender. What happens when these 3 graduate?
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Are you serious?
LOL
You have a serious Inferiority Complex when it comes to Kasas Basketball. Listen guy, its going to be okay…your are not even in our Big 12 Conference. You should spend more time worring about your cupcake conference and be talking trash to, UW, USC, ASU, WAZZU, OREGON, OSU and so forth.
-An inferiority complex, often used to mean low self-esteem, is a feeling of intense insecurity, inferiority or of not measuring up. An inferiority complex can be seen in the negative or “useless” reactions to problems in life. These reactions are useless because they do not solve the problem at hand, but only serve to guard one’s self-esteem by avoiding the task or by placing the blame for the failure outside of the individual’s control. Although the inferiority complex may be seen as comparing individuals or groups as one being superior to another, it more closely describes how one deals with a fear of failure.-
And you obviously do not know what Kansas is doing right now, as far as recruits and building depth. With all that trash talking about your mcd’s aa’s and heralded recruiting class, I don’t need to remind you off the flopp zona pulled last year. I ask you again…who will be the next to leave that program? I feel bad for Kaleb, he set himself back in progress. A player will not improve playing against lower tier talent among the whack 12.
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Dodging questions like usual.
Building depth?
I would mostly call it settling for 3 stars, bc KU can’t win any recruiting battles anymore. Must be sad 4 u knowing that self recruited and offered: NJohnson, j turner, g York, b Ashley, k Tarczewski and mark Lyons. That’s funny that all of zona players were higher priorities than players KU has signed. Truth hurts you have second tier talent.
0-6 last two years for bill self on Arizona players.
And miller offered zero Kansas signets last two years.
Please explain with a real answer what is going on here.
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
Please explain Powerhouse Bucknell LOSS at home in the first round of the NIT, and I’ll explain the National Title Game to you. LMAO!!
/
UAWildcat / May 7, 2012
Not defending bj or UA this past season, but I’m not sure a Kansas fan should be laughing about Bucknell beating another program in the 1st round of a tournament. Also, not one program has all of their games nationally televised, plus the Pac-12/ESPN tv contract starts this coming year.
/
PaulSmenis / May 7, 2012
“Will college Gameday ever do to Tucson?”
Yes, they were there last season.
“How does sean miller lose with all them mcd’s aa’s? LOL One may ask…”
Do you predict the future? Because Sean Miller hasn’t coached a McDonald’s All American yet.
Look, I get you’re a KU fan. KU is one of the best college basketball programs of all time, no rational person can deny that fact. But just because you are a fan of a great program doesn’t mean that you are better than anyone else here or know more than anyone else here.
/
fearthephog25 / May 7, 2012
LOL Never said I or Kansas was better than anyone. I don’t go around saying the ”pac 12 is better than the Big 12 or UCLA or zona is better than KU.” Because those would be false statements, I do not speculate. Just let the facts speak for themselves, and 24 straight NCCA Big Dance Invites and 8 straight Big 12 Titles do speak for themselves. (All without Number 1 Recruiting Classes or a bunch of McD’s AA’s)
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Everyone was let down by loss in PAC 12 tournament and not making NCAA , so they didn’t show up and weren’t ready to play, and or didn’t care bc it was nit.
Let’s hear u answer some questions.
/
PaulSmenis / May 7, 2012
Seems to me KU has gotten a decent amount of McDonald’s All Americans over the years:
http://statsheet.com/bhsb/mcplayers_by_college
So you never answered my question. Do you predict the future? Because Sean Miller has yet to win or lose a game with a McD’s AA player on any of his rosters.
It seems to me you only “let facts speak for themselves” when pumping KU, but not when you are denigrating other programs.
/
UofA BJ / May 7, 2012
Exactly, he ducks every question.
/
fearthephog25 / May 8, 2012
Teams like zona brag and get happy about mcd’s aa’s; not schools with rich tradition, history and success.KU has proven you can win and make it to the title game with so called 3 star talent (as blow job will put it). LOL With all that ua 5 Star talent, versus KU’s 3 Star Talent , it really shows what Pure Quality Coaching gets you. 3 Star Bill Self > 5 Star Sean Miller. Self is a 2 Time NCOY and Hall Of Famer, is there really a need to even compare the two?
So I will take my 3 Star Talent and Bill Self and march deep into the tourney over Sean Miller’s 5 Star Power and a 1st. round beat down in the NIT by National Powerhouse Bucknell. LOL
Sleep well sweet pea, hope that NIT T shirt is comfy for you to sleep in blow job. haha
/
PaulSmenis / May 8, 2012
Bill Self is in the hall of fame? Predicting the future again I see.
And as far as recruiting rankings go, KU still has gotten more 4 and 5 star players from 2009 through the 2011 class than Arizona has. Go look it up sunshine.
Self is a great coach, no doubt. The jury is still out on Miller. But both coaches reached 2 Elite Eights in their first eight seasons. See, I can use facts too! Comparing the two at this point is fruitless, since Self has 19 seasons under his belt and came to KU with a well stocked roster, a far cry from what Miller inherited at Arizona.
And as a KU fan, I wouldn’t be so quick to make fun of a first round loss to Bucknell.
/
JonHuskyMS / May 8, 2012
TWO Jessie Wildcats??? This is mind-boggling.
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
Bill self is a HOF.
Man I’m getting weak from laughter.
Maybe the toupee hall of fame.
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
Dumbass keeps bringing up nit loss to bucknell like it’s relevant.
It’s the nit no 1 cares.
On the other hand losing to bucknell in a relevant game like the NCAA’s , now that’s a different story.
Still waiting on your response to bill self being 0-6 on recruiting zona players.
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
Waiting…..
/
PaulSmenis / May 8, 2012
Every loss is relevant BJ, some just hurt more than others. I would certainly care if my team lost in the first round of the NIT, but no it doesn’t hurt as much as being upset in the first round of the tourney.
And Self did beat out Miller for Selby, although that worked out as well as Miller beating out Self for Turner…
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
True paul, but if u scroll back farther I was referencing last two years.
Still waiting phog…..
0-6 and counting
/
mikemiller13 / May 8, 2012
and in the last two years your referencing recruiting……which team had more wins? waiting………….0-6 recruiting or wins on the court? you figure out
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
You r that stupid aren’t you?
2012 recruits haven’t played yet and last year KU played no freshman.
Like I’ve been saying 2013 forward is what you base the results for last years and this years recruits.
Trob and EJ class of 2009
Tyshawn and withey 2008
Get it you fuckIng geniuses.
Good luck with all your scraps.
/
mikemiller13 / May 8, 2012
hey uofa, it’s your time to shine brother. it’s the off-season. make all the basless predictions you always make. and to your point no 2012 recruits have played……my point exactly. mclemore and ellis this year, with conner and greene already for next year. i think self can pull out a win or 2 with players like that, but we’ll see. i mean all ku gets is scrubs. self just fell into those 8 straight conference titles i guess. hmmmmm, haven’t we lost a lot of “top” guys to the league and graduation before since self has been the hc? how does kansas continue to win? i already know, you have no real answer. your response will be oh wait until next year. keep trying
/
UofA BJ / May 8, 2012
Mike they have won 8 str8 bc of the players, (not saying self didn’t help)KU has had some loaded teams last 8 years. I actually picked them in my bracket to win it all in 07,08, and 11. So I am well aware of caliber of players they have had. But sorry if my opinion offends u but I just don’t see type of talent on this current roster.
/
fearthephog25 / May 8, 2012
Obviously bj doesn’t know what BMAC and Traylor bring to the table. LOL
Ben McLemore, G, 6-5, 185, St. Louis, Mo. (Christian Life Center [TX].)
Jamari Traylor, F, 6-7, 212, Chicago, Ill. (IMG Academy [Bradenton, Fla.])
And they are noy typical freshman, having already been under the wings of Kansas Staff.
”Traylor played last season at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., where he averaged 20 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots per game. He has been described as a hustle guy who fights for rebounds and loose balls, much like current KU forward Thomas Robinson. ”
Add in Ellis, White, Lucas, Adams and Zach.
bj never answerd my question as to why you feel inferrior to Kansas? We are not in your conference nor play you….just let it go. haha
Kansas can beat zona this season, and you already know this. Kansas is going to have a long, lanky, quick and athletic team all over the court and defend the perimeter. Looking forward to letting them loose and running the open court in transition. Better do your research guy.
/
fearthephog25 / May 8, 2012
Hey bj, Sometimes stapling water to a tree is much easier than convincing an idiot.

/
fearthephog25 / May 9, 2012
What question? Do I dare answer such ignorant questions when you already know the logistical answer? LOL

As a fan of the #1 program of all-time (Kentucky), I find it amusing to watch KU and Zona fans squabble about who is better at recruiting.
