Hawaii Transfer Stokes Weighing Options

Hawaii transfer Shaquille Stokes is weighing his options and hopes to play closer to home.

“His grandmother is sick,” Paul Ruddock, Stokes’ former AAU coach, told SNY.tv. “She had a stroke and he needs to be near to his family.”

Ruddock said Cincinnati, Rhode Island, Hofstra, Siena and St. Peter’s were among the schools interested in the 5-foot-10 former Lincoln High standout.

The freshman from Harlem started 12 of 30 games last season at Hawaii, averaging 8.4 points while finishing second on the team in assists (66) and three-pointers made (35).
