Savon Goodman Setting Visits (UPDATED)

Savon Goodman is one of the most athletic wing players still available in the Class of 2012 and he will being his visit schedule by tripping unofficially to Seton Hall on Friday, not Thursday as I had originally understood.

Philly Constitution coach Rob Moore informed SNY.tv of the news and said he’s also working on setting up official visits to UNLV and Pitt.

“The kid is looking to start school in June and be on campus somewhere working towards a degree so this process is going to move very quickly,” Moore told SNY.tv Thursday.

Seton Hall now has one scholarship opened up for 2012 with the transfer of guard Sean Grennan and could use an athletic wing to pair with Aaron Cosby, Fuquan Edwin and Haralds Karlis. The Pirates also hope that Texas transfer Sterling Gibbs can get a waiver to run the point in 2012.

“West Virginia, UCLA, USC, St. John’s, Gonzaga and Temple are also in the mix” for Goodman, Moore told SNY.tv.

SMU coach Larry Brown has also expressed interest.

The coach has maintained that the 6-foot-6 former Villanova commit is academically eligible for 2012 but may still opt to prep and attend college beginning 2013.

Former Iona guard Kyle Smyth of Don Bosco Prep will also visit Seton Hall Thursday, he confirmed to SNY.tv.

“Gonna come down to them and BC,” he said by text.
