The Knicks will be without Amar’e Stoudemire for Game 3 Thursday night at Madison Square Garden, and he will likely miss Game 4 Sunday, too.
The team issued a statement late Tuesday saying “Stoudemire was seen by a hand specialist [Tuesday] afternoon at the Hospital for Special Surgery. The surgeon repaired a small muscle. He will not play Game 3 on May 3 and is listed as doubtful for Game 4 on May 6. He will be reassessed for the remainder of the series.”
After having Tuesday off, the Knicks will practice Wednesday and will speak to the media for the first time since Stoudemire lacerated his left hand Monday night by punching the glass encasement of a fire extinguisher in Miami following the Knicks 104-94 loss in Game 2 Monday.
“We all have done things out of anger that we regret,” Stoudemire tweeted at 2 a.m. Tuesday. “That makes us human. Bad timing on my part. Sorry guys. This too shall pass.”
