Monroe’s Sanchez, Bourgault Going on Visits

The Monroe College duo of Orlando Sanchez and Marco Bourgault will soon hit the road for several visits.

“He is taking three visits,” Monroe assistant Brock Erickson told SNY.tv of the 6-foot-8 Sanchez.

Sanchez will visit Auburn April 13-14, Providence April 17-18 and St. John’s April 20-21. Bourgault, a 6-6 wing shooter, will accompany Sanchez on the St. John’s visit after tripping to Louisiana Tech April 16-18.

St. John’s coach Steve Lavin would love to add the duo to a 2012 class that already includes 6-8 forward JaKarr Sampson and 6-3 wing Felix Balamou, but Erickson says nothing is done yet.

“He’s wide open,” Erickson, the assistant at the New Rochelle school, said of Sanchez, “and the Providence coaches have been recruiting him since November. They’ve done a fantastic job recruiting him so I would say it’s not done to St. John’s.”

St. John’s is also targeting 6-10 big man Michael Chandler, who is awaiting word on his eligibility vis-a-vis the NCAA.

“No commitment yet,” Allan Chandler, Michael’s uncle, told SNY.tv by text.

Another St. John’s target, 6-10 Wisconsin center Philip Nolan, may end up prepping this year, sources told SNY.tv.

“He’s a talent, has a ton of potential,” one source close to Nolan told SNY.tv. “He needs to add some weight. He can probably make an impact as a freshman but not as much as if he gets stronger.

As for where Nolan might land after a year of prep, the source said, “Anybody’s going to be able to get him next year.”
