  • FIU’s Ferguson Declares For Draft; Updated List

Florida International’s Dominique Ferguson declared for the NBA Draft Tuesday, saying the school would not release him after Isiah Thomas was fired as coach.

Ferguson told The Associated Press that his request to be released from his scholarship was denied by Pete Garcia, the school’s executive director of sports and entertainment. A subsequent appeal process that Ferguson said included a meeting with university President Mark Rosenberg also did not bring the release he sought.

The school had no immediate response to the AP’s request for comment.

“It’s been very confusing,” Ferguson said. “I’m getting through all this mess. It’s a big mess going on right now.”

In two seasons at FIU, the 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward averaged 8.0 points and 5.6 rebounds.

The news was first reported by CBSSports.com.

    Baylor’s Quincy Miller also declared.

    • god some of these guys are idiots for leaving school early

    • Do all these early entrants make a farce of college education? Or is it just the underclassmen? I’m not sure where we draw the line. Do we pillory all these coaches for cheapening the college game?

    • Eatgerm, I don’t know where you went to school but your college education was most assuredly a farce. And you have been pillorying coaches for a long time on all the many boards where you spend your meaningless life.

However. EVEN YOU do not “pillory them for cheapening the college game”. Nobody does that. One and done players enhance the college game because they are the most talented players. Some people attempt to sandbag coaches (and players) for cheapening the MEANING OF A COLLEGE EDUCATION by bringing on one and done players. But that’s a canard.

So you are unable even to correctly state your own groundless accusation, couched as usual in mock-intellectual language.

In conclusion, Wheatgerm, I advise you to eat yourself. Perhaps your health will improve, and you will decide to seek instruction in English composition.

    • haha, creature that was great.

I swear, if I ever see anyone use the word pillory again I’m going to kill a bunny. I’ve seen that exact phrase on way to many posts (not just Zagsblog). I don’t know if it’s always him saying the same thing over and over again, or if he just stole it from someone and thinks it makes him sound smart.

      Either way, it’s getting old.
