Troy Williams to Announce After Season

Troy Williams, a 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing from Hampton (Va.) Phoebus, plans to announce his college decision after the end of the high school season.

“Will be committing between the end of high school and beginning of AAU season,” Williams, the Rivals No. 4 small forward in the Class of 2013, Tweeted.

Boo Williams, Troy’s uncle, confirmed to SNY.tv by phone Monday that his nephew would likely announce by “May.”

As previously reported by FiveStarBasketball.com, Williams has trimmed his list to North Carolina, Kentucky, Georgetown and Villanova.

Williams has visited Kentucky and North Carolina “a couple times” each, his uncle said.

Terri Williams-Flournoy, the women’s basketball coach at Georgetown, is Boo’s sister and Troy’s aunt, and so he’s visited there, too.

“But we haven’t been to Nova,” Boo said.

Asked what Troy’s upside going forward is, Boo said: “He’s got a chance to be pretty good. He’s a very good offensive player, a great athlete, very good in the open court. I mean, he’s got a chance to be really good, especially under the right circumstances.”
