West Virginia junior center Aaric Murray was arrested Thursday morning in Philadelphia on a misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession, Philadelphia police confirmed to SNY.tv.

“He was arrested today on the 1700 block of South 20th St.,” Officer Jillian Russell said by phone.

Officer Russell said that as of Thursday afternoon, the 6-foot-10 Murray, 22, was still being “processed.” Officer Tanya Little added that “he was most likely in jail.”

“I’ve been alerted about the situation and the matter will be handled internally,” Mountaineers coach Bob Huggins said in a statement.

Herb Pope can’t go home.

The Seton Hall senior forward has a 4-year-old daughter named Hamari back home in Aliquippa, Pa, but Pope can’t go there to visit with her. He hasn’t returned to Aliquippa this year and only sees his daughter when family members bring her on trips to Seton Hall.

During his senior year at Aliquippa High School in 2007, Pope was shot four times during a party and now feels it’s unsafe to go back.

“No, it’s never safe to go home, especially with the circumstances and the environment down there but there’s nothing left there for me in Aliquippa,” Pope told SNY.tv during a phone interview Thursday.

The Nets signed veteran guard DeShawn Stevenson to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told SNY.tv.

New Jersey also waived forward Stephen Graham.

“We’re happy for DeShawn,” Bartelstein said. “He’s a great fit for them.

“He brings something into their backcourt that they really don’t have right now. He’s a defense-first guy. [Head coach] Avery [Johnson] loves guys who play with great energy and passion and who love to compete on the defensive end. He goes for every 50/50 ball.

NEW YORK — The Knicks still have the $2.5 million “room” exception to use and could opt to save it for one of the players currently stuck in China.

That group includes former Knick forward Wilson Chandler, as well as shooting guard J.R. Smith and power forward Kenyon Martin.

“Glen’s going to evaluate everything that needs to be done,” Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni, referring to interim GM Glen Grunwald, said Wednesday before his team beat the Nets, 88-82, at MSG.
