In this video with FiveStarBasketball.com, former St. John’s commit Ricardo Gathers talks St. John’s, Kentucky, Duke, Baylor, LSU and Florida.
The 6-foot-8 Gathers decommitted from St. John’s, but head coach Steve Lavin watched him several times at the recent City of Palms Classic. Lavin told SNY.tv he plans to sign five players in the spring signing period.
Gathers on St. John’s assistant Tony Chiles watching him at City of Palms: “That means a lot, man…They playing right now, to be exact. To see that he’s here, he’s still interested that’s pretty big.”
On Duke and Kentucky: “I feel like they programs. Day in and day out, you know they’re always going to be a Top 10 team. They’re always going to develop players. You’re always going to see somebody coming out of those types of programs….I’m a championship type dude. I want to win. I ain’t just trying to be there.”
On John Calipari: “He one of them dudes that gets you ready and gets you out.”
On playing with Archie Goodwin at UK: “I’ve been talking to my boy Archie Goodwin and we’re kind of trying to work something out.”
On Duke: “One thing they got, they got bigs. They got the Plumlee brother. I like what they’re doing with them. They’re utilizing them.”
On Baylor: “They in need of a four man. Q[uincy] Acy gonna be gone.”
On LSU: “They stepping it up. You know, that’s hometown.”
On Florida: “They’re in the same situation as Baylor.”
