Nerlens Noel’s teammates think he should go to Kentucky but the No. 1 center in the Class of 2013 wants to take his time.
“You just got to go to a program just not based off the name,” Noel told FiveStarBasketball.com in this exclusive vide interview.
“But if there is a good name you look into it, see what they have to offer. But there ‘s other schools out there that are going to help you just as good as the high-name schools as well. So you look at the other schools, too, and take your time through the process and look at it in different aspects and just know that you made the good decision.”
“Just follow your heart.”
Noel can go anywhere he wants to but also mentions UConn, Syracuse and Providence, along with Kentucky, among his suitors.
Kentucky head coach John Calipari and his entire staff were on hand Monday at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Meyers, Fla., to watch Noel put up 9 points, 17 rebounds and 4 blocks in an 80-50 rout of Philly Friends Central.
Calipari and company also watched Shabazz Muhammad, Julius Randle and others.
Tilton players Wayne Selden and Brandon “Red” Bibbs told Five Star they think Noel should play for the ‘Cats.
“I kind of see him going to Kentucky,” Bibbs told Five Star. “I think that would be the best place for him because the way he plays, Kentucky would be the best place for him.”
“I’m thinking I’m going to go with Kentucky for Nerlens, too,” Selden told Five Star. “I feel like he’ll fit the system right. Plus, Nerlens’ looks like he could be a one-and-done. He keeps working hard, he develops his game here, go to college and be a one-and-done.”
