Arnaud Moto, a 6-foot-7 small forward from Alexandria (Va.) Episcopal, is currently at Vanderbilt on an official visit after going to Wake Forest last week.

“Arnaud had a very good visit to Wake Forest and the coaches and their community did a great job welcoming Arnaud for the weekend,” Episcopal coach Jim Fitzpatrick told SNY.tv..

“He will travel to UCLA next weekend for his official visit,” he added. “He also plans to visit Florida and Virginia Tech in October.”

DaShawn Gomez, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound point guard from Antelope (Calif.) Valley College, has pledged to Iona and will have two years of eligibility beginning in 2012.

“I just feel that it’s the perfect spot to play the perfect style that fits my game,” Gomez, 20, told SNY.tv by phone.

“I have a lot of family out there, too, on the East Coast. It’s the best thing for me.”

The wait is over.

Jerami Grant, a 6-foot-7 forward from DeMatha Catholic, has pledged to Syracuse over Rutgers and Notre Dame.

“It’s a great school, and even more importantly it’s a great fit,” Grant told SNY.tv by text. “Just feels right and it felt like a great opportunity to play with great players and play against the best in the Big East.”

“He fits what they do,” Team Takeover coach Keith Stevens added to SNY.tv by phone. “I think his style of play fits the way they play. There are a lot of similarities in how he played this summer with us and what Coach [Jim] Boeheim likes to do with his three-man, being able to get the ball off the backboard and being able to start the fastbreak.

NEWARK, N.J. — If anyone knows what kind of player Texas is getting in incoming freshman point guard Myck Kabongo, it is Dan Hurley.

Hurley coached Kabongo at St. Benedict’s Prep before taking over the Wagner College job. Hurley still vividly recalls when Kabongo went head-to-head with Kyrie Irving in January 2010 — and came away victorious.

“To outplay Kyrie Irving and hit the shot to win the game at the buzzer, and then proclaim himself to be the best point guard in the country, it spoke to how hard he worked during the offseason to get better,” Hurley told SNY.tv this week during an open gym at St. Benedict’s.
