Perry Ellis Enjoys Kansas Home Visit (UPDATED)

Perry Ellis hosted Kansas head coach Bill Self and assistant Danny Manning Friday for a home visit.

“It went really well,” Fonda Ellis, Perry’s mom, told SNY.tv by phone.

“They think that he could do so many things for them. He’s so versatile that they could use him in so many ways.

“They said he reminded them of Marcus Morris and they showed us a video of his highlights. We saw a lot of similarities of how Perry plays. They said Perry could play all over. He could guard a guard. He could play on the perimeter. He could be a four. That’s what they’re excited about, he could be a mismatch for some teams.”

Next up is a home visit with Frank Martin of Kansas State on Monday, followed by Gregg Marshall of Wichita State Tuesday.

Kentucky coach John Calipari will meet with Ellis Sept. 16 upon returning from Olympic qualifying in Argentina.

Providence, fresh off getting pledges from Kris Dunn and Ricky Ledo, has also been in touch but won’t be added to the list of four.

“Providence is trying to get involved,” she said. “They followed him this summer and really like his game and wanted to talk to us but Perry’s all about being comfortable and all these coaches that he has on his list have followed him and recruited him for three years at least. He’s all about being comfortable with the coach.

“We’re not even gonna open it up anymore.”

Fonda said no officials have been set and they would wait until after the home visits are completed.

“We’re gonna wait until we have all his in-home visits first before we decide who’s Midnight Madness to visit or whatever,” she said. “We want to make that decision after, so no officials are scheduled.”

  • My money is with John Calipari.
He should have a good in-home visit, next week.

Self has lost the last 10 recruiting battles to Cali.

  • SiJessieWildcat – you should slow your roll. LOL Since 1975 the whack 10, now the new pac 12 has only won Three NCAA Men’s Titles. If recruits want low exposure, then they will go to the Westcoast and play on FSN Network. All while the whole USA is sleeping or too tired to stay up and watch mediocre basketball. Perhaps recruits just want to head West where there is less than competition and can dominate. HAHA… We all know Utah and Colorado didn’t bring any strength to the conference. LOL Enjoy the buffs academic probation. Would love to see you in March.

  • ESPN IS WHERE IT IS AT.

  • Sounds like ku fans are a little tense now that they can’t land a top recruit to save their lives. Gonna be a sad day when Tarczewski chooses ZONA over ku and you strike out on recruiting for the 2nd str8 year.

  • KU has been doing it with quality four stars for many of years. LOL It all comes down to dedication and coaching. Wouldn’t you agree? Remember the Morris Twins came in as four stars and couldn’t dunk? Self, Manning and Co. turns all bigs into Lottery Picks and NBA First Rounders off the Hi-Lo Pick and Roll. The sad part for competition is, we been doing it for years and yet we still 2nd. in All Time Wins and looking to overcome uk. Wake me up if the pac 12 ever becomes a contender without a one man show to garnish media attention. Besides playing on FSN. LOL I Love them Huskies though, lil guys play with HEART….Must have a good Coach in Romar.

  • The real question is what is going on with ku recruiting?
Are they in trouble with NCAA ?

  • LOL Whats wrong with that? Who has more to worry about? u of a or KU? Kansas will always be a Basketball Institution, how about arizona and the whack 12? Utah seems to be alright though, but the rest? LOL Serious contenders….I doubt it. ENJOY FSN SON!!

  • FSN

  • No1 recruiting class

  • fearthephog: Maybe you did not hear but the Pac-12 and ESPN signed an agreement that starts in 2012. Plus all schools play games on FSN even Duke, Kentucky and Kansas.

  • Kaleb and Perry will be unstopable playing together in Historic Allen Fieldhouse.

Kaleb Tarczewski, a 7-foot senior center from St. Mark High Southborough, Mass., will make an official recruiting visit to Kansas University on Sept. 17 and Arizona the following week, then decide between the two schools, pointguardu.com reported Saturday night. Tarczewski is Rivals.com’s No. 12-rated player nationally.

  • That’s funny, I’ve lived on the East Coast for 20 years and I haven’t EVER missed or had any trouble finding a Pac 10 game that I wanted to see. What I do have trouble finding out here is educated, unbiased sports fans. Every real sports fan has DirecTV and all of the games are right there staggered on like 25 different channels at a time. Pretty hard to miss them unless you’re actively trying to. For the same coverage of other conferences, ESPN requires their expensive Full Court Package and many of the games tip off when those that matter are still at work.

I’m sorry that your mother maintains your bedtime at 10 pm because almost all P10 games are finished by midnight. By choosing not to stay up to watch those games, you are missing out on watching the best basketball outside of possibly the ACC. You should look into getting your hands on one of those newfangled DVRs.

I could only imagine what a little exposure could have done for guys like Derrick Williams, Klay Thompson, Kevin Love, Jrue Holiday, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Jimmer, Brandon Roy, Kawhi Leonard, Nicola Vucevic, Demar Derozan, Jerryd Bayless, Luke Babbitt, Jordan Hill, Chase Budinger, Darren Collison, Taj Gibson, OJ Mayo, Brook & Robin Lopez, Javale McGee, etc… in just the past four years (mostly down years in the West). Let’s face it – NBA scouts and GM’s know where to look for talent and the players know it. They couldn’t care less whether or not fans like you stay up to watch because the people that really matter are watching. You are simply a pawn in a network ratings game, nothing more.

By the way, the Pac 10’s new tv deal will make them by far the most profitable conference and their games will now be available to everyone without exception – even to you scrubs living in the 80’s with cable tv.

  • Lol AG. Can’t believe all these KU fans can only argue tv networks anymore. Most be tough not landing any top recruits. U KU fans better get on your knees and pray 4 Tarc, although it won’t do u any good.

  • When was the last time arizona was featured on college gameday or even a espn big monday? LOL

  • AG you really think the Pac 10 has the best basketball outside of “possibly” the ACC. No Big East in there?

  • Phog how about against UDUB in February .
Or was that to long ago for u to remember?

  • Honestly I have nothing against Zona or the pac 12. I would like to see the cats become a true Blue Blood again. And I feel for UW and T. Jones doing them bad and selling out. The West needs a come up bad. I wonder if the wear twins will blossom at Fucla. Who won the pac 10 tourney last year anyway?

  • I also think the pac 10 won only one game last year in Big 12/pac 10 challenge. Big 12 wins the challege every single year, so it is not even a challenge. More of a blow out. LOL

  • Last season the pac 10 went up against 7 Consecutive Time Big 12 Champion KANSAS four times and LOST. LOL ucla, usc, cal and arizona…any comments?

  • ESPN College Game Day will be in Tucson January 28 th 2012 and debated about changing there plans to go to Michigan State last February but decided to stay with the Mich State game. If you missed the Pac-10 title game last year you missed a very good game. If I remember correctly Kansas and Arizona both reached the Elite Eight last year and Arizona was far the more competitive in their game than Kansas.

  • Kansas 4 – Pac 10 ZERO, last season. Enough Said, I don’t even know why Jayhawks play so many pac 10 teams each year; and defeat them year after year.

  • That’s the past, but the truth hurts KU is a great program but they are slipping as of late. And although they will be pretty good this year I honestly see problems in 12-13 season and possibly beyond.
Honestly besides Tarc , who else is really in the mix to land.seems like all their targets are heavily leaning elsewhere again.

  • Entire 2011-12 Kansas Men’s Basketball Season to be Nationally Televised. Bring the hate, enjoy low exposure on FSN. LOL

  • Good luck in mountain west

  • LOL Wouldn’t ever happen, nice try though. Will az or any other pac 12 school ecer beat Kansas? Do you love corado’s academic probation status? LOL They were bottom Big 12.

  • No one wants KU, because outside of basketball their ath dept is a joke.
    Sorry but truth hurts.

  • In reality, at the very leasy….The Big East. So please feel free to keep dreaming. Which will surely be mor competitive than a pac 12. LOL Just out of curiosity, how many pac 10 tams have gotten into the tourney the past few years? Exactly…don’t expect colorado or utah to even make a lil dent. haha

  • UofA BJ is that when I.T. and UW beat your ass for the pac 10 title? LOL Late Feb.? I remember that well. haha

  • No genius that was in March, you know the month were mens basketball plays their conference championship. Man u really r dumber than I thought with that last comment. It was the game were Derrick Williams sent the ball 10 rows deep at the buzzer to win.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA……

The winner of the Pac-10 tournament receives the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and is dubbed the conference champion. Washington won the 2011 tournament, the Huskies’ second consecutive conference championship.

    ROFFL

  • Do you mean the d. williams, the lone true legit baller on the whole westcoast? LOL I take that back, there is klay thompson of WSU. Where are the other NBA Lottery Picks? Weah Conference…I must say.

  • Kevin love, russel Westbrook, demar derozen, jrue Holliday,Jared bayless, Jordan hill, chase budinger, Aaron afflalo, Darren collision , klay Thompson, Derrick Williams

Not anywhere near the talent in Kansas but then again Kansas is a recruiting hotbed.

  • You forgot james harden and the best one…brandon roy. Yet all that talent and no ncaa titles. I think the only legit contender the past decade would have to have been ucla. But in reality we all know the west has been down a while now.
