McCullough Picks Up UConn, West Va. Offers

Tuesday was a big day for 6-foot-9 New York forward Chris McCullough.

A very big day.

While on a visit to Arizona, the 2014 standout picked up scholarship offers from Big East powerhouses UConn and West Virginia.

“Coach [Kevin] Ollie reached out to let Chris know that there is a scholarship on the table for him,” Terrance “Munch” Williams, McCullough’s AAU coach, told SNY.tv.

“He expressed his love for Chris pushing himself to be in a winning environment at all times and thinks he can help them win another national championship at some point.”

That wasn’t all. Mounties coach Bob Huggins called, too.

“Coach Huggins called to extend an offer to Chris and explained that his skill-set fits their defensive system perfectly,” Williams added. “He loves Chris’s strength and ability to play multiple positions on the court and looked forward to getting him on campus at some point.”

As for the ARizona visit, that also went well for the big man from the Salisbury (Conn.) school.

“The Arizona visit was first class and the coaching staff did a great job of laying out a plan for Chris’s development if he was to attend,” Williams said. “They made him feel at home.”

  • Don’t get it twisted.

The headline is Chris visited the Arizona Wildcats.

Uconn,WV,Fl were scared $hitle$$ and offered while in Flight…West is LMFAO.

    note-
Surprise anyone mentioning UConn unless it was to BLAST them. That kid.

  • This just shows you how much respect (and fear) other coaches around the country have for what Sean Miller is doing in Tucson.

It is not a coincidence that UConn and WVU both called while McCullough was on a visit to the UofA… the could have offered at any time during the summer, but after top-5 PFs Brandon Ashley and Grant Jerrett both chose the Wildcats, other coaches know that Sean and the Cats are red hot right now. Derrick Williams paved the way and other top PFs want to follow his lead.
