Jevon Thomas has decommitted from St. John’s.
“I’m decommitting from St. John’s,” the 2012 floor general from Our Savior New American told Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop Saturday afternoon. “I think I rushed into my decision way to early. I want to see more options and go from there.” Thomas will still consider the Johnnies.
“I will explore other options,” he said. “At the same time, I have high interest in them and still have a great relationship with the staff.”
The 6-foot Thomas committed to St. John’s in October 2010 after being recruited by assistant Tony Chiles.
St. John’s is actively recruiting 2012 point guard Kyle Anderson of St. Anthony, and are among his finalists, along with Seton Hall, Florida, Georgetown and UCLA.
The Johnnies are also involved with 2012 power forward Ricardo Gathers, who lists St. John’s, Texas, Arizona and LSU as his top four.
St. John’s now has one extra scholarship to use going forward.

My Translation: I will check out other teams as people have been in my head about Kyle taking my playing time. I love the staff, but love PT more…
