Myles Davis to Xavier

Myles Davis is headed to Xavier.

The 6-foot-2, 193-pound shooting guard from the Playaz Basketball Club and Notre Dame Prep opted for Xavier over Pittsburgh, Georgetown and West Virginia.

The news was first reported by Alex Kline of The Recruit Scoop.

“I just felt like it was the right place for me,” the Plainfield, N.J., native said late Monday. “I feel like I’m going to have a good chance of playing time with Tu Holloway leaving.

“Coach [Chris] Mack showed real loyalty to me coming to all my games at Hoop Group and Peach Jam. They just showed that they really want me and my parents like it. I like it. I feel it’s the best fit for me.”

Davis, who averaged 13 points and 4 assists last season at Notre Dame Prep, was prepared to commit Friday night had the Playaz reached the title game of the Peach Jam. Instead, they lost in the quarters to the Oakland Soldiers and BABC claimed the title.

“I think it’s a level that Myles can absolutely excel at if he continues to develop his work ethic,” Notre Dame Prep coach Ryan Hurd said. “His ability to shoot the ball separates him from other wings in this class, but there’s a whole lot more to his game. More importantly, he’s a great kid and Xavier fans should be excited that he’s on his way.”

Said Playaz coach Kyle Anderson Sr.: “Myles Davis has an ability to make big shots. Coach Mack and his staff do an outstanding job of preparing their players for games. I am very pleased that Myles made this choice.”
