UPDATE 5/3: After this was initially posted, Corey Edwards texted to say he spoke with an assistant coach at Miami, not directly with head coach Jim Larranaga. He said the assistant coach “asked me  what do [you] think of Miami. He didn’t come out blatant and say would you come to Miami.”

He also said, “In June I am goin to George Mason.”

George Mason signee Corey Edwards said new Miami coach Jim Larranaga talked to him about following the coach to Miami and that he is considering it.

“The coach from George Mason is talking about me going over to Miami,” Edwards said Monday by phone. “I told him it could be a possibility.”

The news broke April 22 that Larranaga was leaving George Mason for Miami.

Edwards said Larranaga called him “a couple days after he took the job.”

Aaric Murray has not yet decided between West Virginia and Oklahoma State despite his Tweets over the weekend indicating he was headed to West Virginia, an adviser to Murray said Monday by phone.

The adviser requested anonymity but said Murray’s Tweets were done in a “dare-type situation and he was having fun” and they were “more of a prank than anything else.”

Over the weekend, the 6-foot-10 Murray Tweeted: “I’m the newest member of the west Virginia team!”

The Nets, in conjunction with the Houston Rockets and the Knicks, will host a draft combine at which 44 NBA draft- eligible players will showcase their skills in front of coaches and personnel executives from 26 NBA teams.  Players will be measured and skill tested and participate in five-on-five competition.

Workouts will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Nets facility in East Rutherford, N.J.

Underclassmen can withdraw from the draft by Sunday and return to campus if they don’t hire an agent, so some of these players will have to make a relatively quick determination on their futures.

Former Kansas State big man Wally Judge has now visited Maryland and Rutgers and may still trip to Washington this coming weekend.

“I was supposed to but I’m not sure if I’m going to take that visit,” Judge said Monday morning by phone. “Washington’s still on my radar.”

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Washington, D.C., native took an official to Maryland this past weekend and ran in an open gym with the team.

“I went down there this weekend,” he said. “Enjoyed myself, got to see my family and see the campus. I went to high school 5-10 minutes away from there [Bladensburg in Prince George’s County]. I grew up in that area all my life. I got family all over that area.”

Isaiah Whitehead is the latest Lincoln High School star to follow in the footsteps of Stephon Marbury, Sebastian Telfair and Lance Stephenson.

Now the freshman has picked up a scholarship offer from North Carolina, according to the New York Post.

“I know they have a great program,” Whitehead told the Post. “A lot of [NBA] players came out of there like Michael Jordan, Vince Carter. I’m real excited.”
