The Skinny: The Orange bring back a ton of experience in Joseph, Jardine and Triche, while the young big men — Melo, C.J. Fair and Baye Moussa Keita all have a year of experience in the vaunted 2-3 zone under their belt. Watch out for Carter-Williams, assistant coach Mike Hopkins’ prized recruit who led the Peach Jam in scoring last summer.

“‘Where’s the money! Where’s the weed!’

These infamous lines were allegedly said by former Seton Hall basketball player Kelly Whitney as he terrorized eight students during a robbery March 15, 2010 at a South Orange, N.J., home.

According to The Star-Ledger, which is covering the trial of Whitney and former Seton Hall player Robert “Stix Mitchell, Whitney had on a mask, gloves and was holding a gun when he demanded the money and marijuana from a student with whom he had smoked weed. Several students were on the floor and Whitney was tying one up.

Rose, James Highlight All-NBA First Team

Derrick Rose, this year’s NBA MVP, and LeBron James, winner of the
two previous MVP awards, highlight the 2010-11 All-NBA First Team.

James was the lone unanimous choice, receiving all 119 first-place votes. Joining
James and Rose on the First Team are Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers, Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic.

Gibbs, Faust Get Releases From Maryland

Maryland’s 2011 recruiting class took a big hit Thursday.

Sterling Gibbs, a 6-foot-1 point guard out of Seton Hall Prep in New Jersey, and Nick Faust, a 6-5 shooting guard from Baltimore City, both got their official releases from their Letters of Intent.

A third recruit, German forward Martin Breunig, asked for his release but his situation was “still in flux,” according to a source at St. John’s Northwest Military Academy in Wisconsin.
