Rodney Purvis, a Top 10 player in the Class of 2012, has decommitted from Louisville and reopened his recruitment, Scout.com reported Monday.
“I just want to develop a relationship with the new staff,” Purvis told Evan Daniels of Scout.com. “Louisville isn’t out or nothing like that.”
Purvis’ announcement comes in the wake of former Louisville assistant Tim Fuller leaving for Missouri.
“It was hard losing Tim Fuller and then having to focus,” Purvis told ESPN. “I talked it over with my family and we came to the conclusion that I would open up my recruitment.”
The 6-foot-4, 185-pound Purvis, out of Upper Room Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., announced for Louisville last December. He said by text he’s considering Louisville, Duke, Kentucky and N.C. State.
Just last month, Purvis had reaffirmed his commitment to Louisville.
