    GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Chauncey Billups took a cortisone shot in his injured left knee Wednesday and will now wait to see if he can play Game 3 Friday night against the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden.

    “They told me what I had to do was I just drained some blood out of there, shot the cortisone and just kind of see how it feels in 48 hours,” Billups said Thursday after getting treatment at the Knicks’ Westchester campus.

    “And obviously we’re kind of in that stage right now, and just hoping for the best. There’s nothing I really can do. I gave myself the best chance, so I’m just hoping at this point.”

    Chauncey Billups and Amar’e Stoudemire “both improved” Wednesday, according to a team source, but their status for Friday’s Game 3 remains uncertain.

    “Tomorrow [Thursday] at practice will tell a lot,” the source said. “We didn’t do anything on the court today [Wednesday] so all we know is there was improvement.”

    The Knicks issued a statement Wednesday saying both players had undergone MRIs.

    Dakari Johnson, perhaps the top player in the nation in the Class of 2014, could be on the move.

    After spending his freshman season at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick under head coach Kevin Boyle, the 6-foot-10 Johnson toured Blair (N.J.) Academy earlier this week.

    “He visited on Monday,” said Blair coach Joe Mantegna, who coached NBA players Luol Deng of the Chicago Bulls and Charlie Villaneuva of the Detroit Pistons.

    Kansas coach Bill Self was at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla., Wednesday to watch both DeAndre Daniels and Jamari Traylor, according to head coach Andy Borman.

    Kansas is involved with both players.

    Daniels’ had a death in the family, however, and he will be unable to play in Friday’s Derby Festival in Louisville, and will put his recruitment on the back burner for now, sources said.
