Rutgers’ Graham to Have Surgery

Rutgers guard Tyree Graham will undergo surgery late next week to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon. The injury was suffered during drills this past week.

Graham had surgery on his left knee to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament on Sept. 16, 2010 and was sidelined for the 2010-11 season. The Achilles injury is unrelated to his prior knee injury.

An extensive recovery and prolonged rehabilitation is expected after the upcoming Achilles tendon surgery.

“Our main concern is getting Tyree healthy,” said head coach Mike Rice. “He will remain involved in team activities.”

This past week, Rutgers has reached out to Nigerian combo guard Maurice Aniefiok and Newark NIA Prep wing Kelvin Amayo in hopes of bringing in someone to replace Graham, who was slated to be the team’s starting shooting guard.
