DeAndre Daniels will remain at IMG Academy through the spring and will not attend college until the fall, sources with knowledge said.
The 6-foot-8 Daniels had considered leaving IMG and attending college for the second semester.
A onetime Texas commit, he had narrowed his list to Kansas, Kentucky and Texas, although Kentucky reportedly withdrew its offer.
LaRon Daniels, DeAndre’s father, was not available for comment and IMG coach Andy Borman politely declined comment.
The NBA announced that Knicks scout Rodney Heard was fined $20,000 and the Knicks’ organization $200,000 for violating league rules restricting contact between NBA teams and players eligible for the NBA Draft.
“We will abide by the NBA’s decision and will have no further comment,” a Knicks spokesman said.
Heard declined comment.
Heard was found to have violated NBA rules on two occasions in Atlanta, once in May 2007 and again in May 2010.
Heard joined the Knicks in 2006 when Isiah Thomas was running the organization and became East Coast scouting director in 2008. The NBA did not punish Thomas, now the head coach at Florida International University.
The Knicks tried to hire Thomas last summer as a part-time consultant, but NBA Commissioner David Stern later ruled it was a conflict of interest.
St. Anthony coach Bob Hurley made No.
JERSEY CITY, N.J. — When Bob Hurley began coaching at St. Anthony High School in 1967, he was a 20-year-old single man with no children.
Five years later, when he launched the varsity team during the 1972-73 season, his first son, Bobby, was 18 months old.
“It all kind of started here, downtown Jersey City. Forty-four years ago, when I started coaching, I wasn’t even married yet,” Hurley recalled Wednesday afternoon after capturing his 1,000th career victory with a 76-46 victory over St. Mary’s of Jersey City thanks to Kyle Anderson’s 14 points and 12 apiece from Myles Mack and Jerome Frink.
Before the game began, Hurley swept the gym floor at the Golden Charter School, just as he’s done thousands of times before.
NEW YORK — Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said he won’t initiate a bid to purchase a minority stake in the Mets, but he would consider it if they reached out.
“On the Mets, I’m not gonna chase it, I’m not gonna call out [to them],” Cuban said before his Mavericks beat the Knicks, 113-97, Wednesday at Madison Square Garden.
“If they want to contact me, if they have an interest and they think I’d be a good owner, I’d take their call and I’d be more than happy to discuss it. But I’m done chasing and bidding on baseball teams.”

Five months after enrolling at Life Center Academy in Burlington, N.J., Andre Horne has decided to take his talents elsewhere.
“Andre is no longer with the team,” Life Center assistant David Boudwin said by phone on Wednesday morning. “Life Center was not the best setup or situation for Andre’s future as a player and student. We appreciated his hard work on the court while he was here and will do all we can to help him find a better fit.”
