UConn head coach Jim Calhoun will miss Thursday’s game against Marquette in order to attend the calling hours and memorial service in Nashua, N.H. for his sister-in-law, Eileen (McDevitt) Fucile, who passed away on Monday.
The No. 14 Huskies (20-6, 8-6 Big East) will host Marquette (16-11, 7-7) at the XL Center in Hartford.
Calhoun will also miss practice Wednesday.
Associate head coach George Blaney, who took over for Calhoun last season when Calhoun missed seven games due to health issues, will coach while Calhoun is away.
The NCAA’s Committee on Infractions on Tuesday suspended Calhoun for UConn’s first three Big East games next season.
The committee cited Calhoun for failing to create an atmosphere of compliance related to the recruitment of former recruit Nate Miles, who never ended up playing for the Huskies.
