Girardi: ‘Possible’ Jeter Could Play Outfield

Yankees manager Joe Girardi says it’s “possible” Derek Jeter could move from the shortstop position at some point down the road.

“It probably all depends on how long he plays the game,” Girardi told MSG’s Jill Martin Wednesday at halftime of the Clippers-Knicks game at MSG.

“He’s our shortstop and that’s what we plan on him being…But if he plays beyond this contract it’s possible he plays somewhere else.”

The 36-year-old Yankee captain recently signed a three-year, $51 million extension with an option for a fourth year.
