Calhoun, Lewis Picks Up UConn Offers

UConn is trying to get involved with the Christ the King program.

In the past few days the Huskies have offered junior combo guard Omar Calhoun (pictured) and sophomore point guard Isaiah Lewis.

“Yes, UConn offered today [Monday],” Lewis said by text, confirming Alex Kline’s initial report.

“I also have offers from Arizona, Oregon State, Georgia Tech, Seton Hall, St. John’s, Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Florida State and Florida.”

The 6-3, 175-pound Lewis said he plans on visiting Arizona, UConn, North Carolina and Kentucky “before the AAU season.”

“I really don’t have any favorites, but I really like Arizona right now,” he said.

His teammate Calhoun picked up an offer from UConn on Friday and hopes to visit within the next week or so.

Omar Calhoun Sr. said UConn assistant Kevin Ollie came to watch the recent Christ the King-Bishop Loughlin game.

“Coach [Jim] Calhoun has seen him play several times already,” Omar Sr. said.

“UConn is the next visit being scheduled.”

The No. 13 shooting guard in the Class of 2012 per Rivals, Calhoun, 6-4, is also considering Kentucky, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown, West Virginia, Seton Hall, Maryland, Miami and North Carolina.
