Omar Calhoun Talks Recruiting

Omar Calhoun is getting a lot of love.

The 6-foot-5, 185-pound 2012 shooting guard from Christ the King is receiving heavy interest “from the entire Big East and most ACC schools,” his father, Omar Sr., said by text.

Omar Sr. said they were “trying to schedule a good time to visit Coach [Jim] Calhoun and UConn.”

In this interview with MassLive.com, Omar mentioned “Villanova, Pittsburgh, West Virginia [and] North Carolina.”

“A lot of those guys have come to watch me play,” he added. “I see them in the crowds. They’re definitely raising their stock on where I want to commit to.”

He added: “Location is not really a factor for me. I’m looking for the best program for me.”

As far as a timetable, Omar said, “At the end of my junior year I’m going to cut it down to five to eight.”

Calhoun on Sunday put up 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in a 73-65 win over Westchester (N.C.) Country Day at the 2011 Hoophall Classic.

Baylor signee Deuce Bello had 17 of his 22 points in the second half for Westchester, which is playing without 6-9 Baylor commit Quincy Miller, out for the season with torn ACL.
