MOUNT VERNON –– As Jabarie Hinds stood in the lobby of Mount Vernon High School Monday afternoon, he received a special request from school safety officer Debbie Thompson.
Thompson asked Hinds, the 6-foot, 170-pound West Virginia-bound point guard, to autograph her glossy new Mount Vernon basketball calendar.
“Jabarie’s the man,” Thompson said. “He’s a smart kid. He has an ambition. He knows what he wants and he’s going for it. That’s a great thing.”
