Wilson to Marquette; Zeller to Announce Thursday

Derrick Wilson, a a 6-foot-1 guard from Anchorage, AK, has verbally committed to Marquette over Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and DePaul.

“When I went to my official to Marquette I fell in love with  everything about it,” Wilson said by text. “The coaches and players are all great people. I like what they had to offer academically and I feel I can really contribute to the basketball program.”

Hotchkiss head coach Fred Benjamin told the New England Recruiting Report Marquette is suited to Wilson’s style of play.

“It is a tailor fit to his style and how he plays the game,” Benjamin said.  “They are a tough and hard-nosed team, they let their guards play, and they have success, they win.  Those are all things that are consistent with Derrick.”

Wilson joins Juan Anderson in Buzz Williams‘ 2011 recruiting haul. The Golden Eagles have one scholarship remaining.
