Gene Keady Talks About Joining St. John’s

Amir Garrett is still considering Oregon and St. John’s as his top two schools, but said he may wait until the spring to sign.
“Yes,” the 6-foot-7 Garrett said Tuesday night by phone. “I’m not sure yet. I don’t think I’m going to sign in November. Not too soon. I’m not too sure yet.”
Said Findlay Prep assistant coach Todd Simon: “Amir’s going to be thorough and he’ll know when it feels right. He’s improving on the court by the day.”
Garrett took an official to Oregon last weekend and said he enjoyed talking with head coach Dana Altman about his potential future there.

“We wanted to be 16 today,” Mitchell said last Wednesday. “Just more articles, locker room material. And we’re just excited for the challenge to come out here and compete every day.”

As October gets ready to give way to November, Oak Hill point guard Quinn Cook is still weighing his options.
The top floor general on the board from the Class of 2011, Cook said Tuesday he’s considering Duke, UCLA and Villanova, but had recently heard again from North Carolina coach Roy Williams.
“Coach Roy Williams called me yesterday [Monday],” Cook said by phone. “He just said that he’s going to try and get up here . He wants me to come on a visit. He still hasn’t offered because he’s not sure with Kendall [Marshall] and Larry [Drew].” Marshall is a freshman and Drew a junior.
GREENBURGH, N.Y. — With the Knicks set to open the 2010-11 season Wednesday night in Toronto, head coach Mike D’Antoni named his starting lineup Tuesday.
And it’s a lineup that will feature two rookies.
Rookie shooting guard Landry Fields (pictured) and first-year center Timofey Mozgov will start alongside point guard Raymond Felton, small forward Danillo Gallinari and power forward Amar’e Stoudemire.
“And that’s if Tim can go,” D’Antoni said.
The 7-foot Russian suffered a bruised left hip and collapsed to the floor during practice Tuesday. He’s listed as questionable for Wednesday.
