Jabarie Hinds Close to Deciding

Mount Vernon (N.Y.) point guard Jabarie Hinds is down to three schools and hopes to announce this week.

The 5-foot-11 Hinds is considering UConn, West Virginia and UNLV. He is the No. 26 point guard in the Class of 2011, per Rivals.

“UCLA wants me to come out at the end of the month but I might commit before then though,” Hinds said by text.

Mount Vernon coach Bob Cimmino previously said Hinds would be a great addition to any program.

“He’s a very, very disciplined hard worker,” he said. “He will bring a tenacity on defense and his athleticism to any program.

“In addition, he’s very similar to Ben [Gordon] in that he has great qualities to assimilate. Some people push themselves in a new situation. He’ll watch where he walks for a little while and he’ll quickly assimilate and understand what it takes in that particular program to be successful.”
