Nash, Madden Visit Baylor; Lawhorn, McCallop Commit

A parade of high-profile recruits is rolling through the Baylor campus for official visits, and point guard Ky Madden and small forward LeBryan Nash were the latest to visit this past weekend.

“Real good,” Nash, a 6-foot-7, 227-pound small forward from Dallas Lincoln, said by text.

“It was great,” Jerome Madden, Ky’s father, said in a phone interview. “I liked pretty much everything, the camaraderie of the players. Just the whole visit.”

Asked how Madden and Nash got along, Jerome said, “They had a good rapport.”

Nash, the No. 2 small forward in the Class of 2011, is considering Baylor, Oklahoma State and Kansas and previously said he would announce Oct. 21 on ESPN.

Madden, a 6-foot-5, 170-pound point guard out of Arkansas East Poinsett County, has officials lined up to Arkansas (Sept. 17), Ole Miss (Sept. 24) and UConn (Oct. 8).

He had an in-home visit with Oklahoma State Monday that Jerome said went “real well.”

UConn coach Jim Calhoun and assistant Kevin Ollie come in for a visit today (Tuesday) and Marquette visits Thursday. Jerome said there were “two or three” more home visits slated.

ROBINSON SCHOOL DUO COMMITS

Danny Lawhorn, a 5-10 PG , and Jakarri McCalop, a 6-7 PF — both of The Robinson School — committed to Maryland Eastern Shore. Lawhorn previously committed to Boston College as a junior and Fordham as a senior at South Kent.

“Lawhorn is a pass-first shifty point guard who broke the NEPSAC assist record last season at South Kent,” Vincent Robinson said.

McCalop averaged 22 points, 14 rebounds and 2 blocks last season at East Hartford (Conn.)

Robinson also said 6-9, 205-pound Shaquille Duncan has picked up offers from Rice, Rhode Island, Manhattan, Iona, St Peters, Marshall, UMES, UT- Chatanooga, Bowling Green, Florida Atlantic, UT-Martin, Morehead State and New Mexico State.

“Depaul will come in for a in home visit next week,” he said. “Duncan is a former Niagara commit who is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder. Duncan has been working out individually with his Big Man coach former Wagner star Frantz Pierre-Louis. Shaquille is wide open in the process and will do an official visit to Rice in the coming weeks. Duncan will unofficially visit Manhattan Friday with teammates Isaiah Williams and Mike John. Duncan is a qualifier.”
