The recruitment of Mount Vernon (N.Y.) point guard Jabarie Hinds continues to be fluid.
After initially trimming his list to Oklahoma State, West Virginia and UNLV, Oklahoma State is now out of the picture and Hinds will take an official to UConn.
Although a specific date has not been set, Hinds, the No. 23 point guard in the Class of 2011, decided to visit UConn after a successful home visit Saturday.
“They said they want me there now,” he said by text. “They like my style of play. They really think I can come in and help the team.”
With junior guard Kemba Walker likely gone to the NBA after his junior season, the Huskies will need a floor general in 2011.
The 6-1, 175-pound Hinds now has three officials set, to UNLV Friday (Sept. 17), to West Virginia (Oct. 14) and an undetermined date to UConn.
“By Tuesday I should know the date,” he said.
That leaves Hinds with two more officials, should he opt to take them.
He also has home visits Tuesday with UCLA and Wednesday with West Virginia.
He said Oklahoma State is no longer in the mix after they pulled out “two hours before the home visit.”
HARRIS WILL VISIT PROVIDENCE
Tyler Harris, a 6-8 forward from St. Benedict’s Prep, will take an official to Providence Oct. 15 after a positive home visit Saturday.
