NEW YORK – Two men, a Russian and a Serb, are all that stand in the way of perhaps the most anticipated and significant tennis match in history.
If top-seeded Rafael Nadal can beat No. 12 Mikhail Youzhny of Russia on Saturday in one U.S. Open semifinal, and No. 2 Roger Federer can dispatch No. 3 Novak Djokovic of Serbia in the other, the two tennis giants will meet at the one Grand Slam where they have never battled.
“I think it’s the biggest match of all time,” Mats Wilander, who won seven majors during his career and now does commentary for EuroSport, told SNY.tv and another reporter.
