Kentucky coach John Calipari added to his already rich recruiting haul Saturday night when Kyle Wiltjer, a 6-foot-9 forward from Portland (Ore.) Jesuit, verbally committed during the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game on ESPNU.
“I”m very excited to be a part of that team,” the 6-foot-9, 225-pound Wiltjer said on ESPNU.
“The one thing is I wanted to surround myself with the best players. They have a great recruiting class coming in and I thought it would be a great fit.”
Wiltjer also considered California, Georgia Tech, Gonzaga, Kansas, Texas and Wake Forest.
Along with teammates Jabari Brown, Nick Johnson, Josiah Turner and Brandon Ashley, Wiltjer had a tremendous summer with the Drew Gooden Soldiers, winning the Las Vegas Fab 48 and the Pumps event in California.
Wiltjer joins a Kentucky recruiting class that includes 6-10 forward Anthony Davis of Chicago; 6-6 forward Michael Gilchrist of Somerdale, N.J.; and 6-2 point guard Marquis Teague of Indianapolis.
Gilchrist’s mother, Cindy Richardson, confirmed to ZAGSBLOG earlier Saturday that her son would attend Kentucky even though he had Tweeted he might take three official visits.

Can you believe he did not even visit the campus? The Big Blue Dust is all over the nation with Coach Cal at the top—only great things to come. National Champions year after year! It’s great to be a Kentucky Wildcat! We are only weeks away from the start of basketball season where thousands of UK fans will be camped out waiting for Midnight Basketball tickets!!! Go Big Blue!

rbcat- don’t count your chickens before they hatch. Cal has put together 3 impressive classes at UK but they were unable to beat a talented and more experienced WV squad in the elite eight with the 1st class.

Not sure UA will be in the nit.

Good point–UA didn’t make the NIT last year so it’s no lock.

you guys want to check out something funny. despite many of us being fans of different schools and the numerous topics we disagree on. my guess is that we all know that that JessieW guy is a complete clown.
for those of you members of scout.com boards, check out this one thread over on michigan state’s site.

JessieW actually created 3 different user names (UofAgoing4TEN, CABasketball, OneMoreTimey) logged in and posted in 1 thread. Who knows how many more he has. How sad.

Woody I was implying that UA should be much improved this year and that NCAA is more. UA returns everyone except Wise and from all reports the Fogg and Horne have benifitted from finally having an offseason program plus all the sophomores have improved as well and that includes one of the best freshmen last year D. Williams. Woody you’re just as bad as Jessie.
