Gilchrist Not Taking Officials

Michael Gilchrist is not taking any officials and still plans to attend Kentucky.

“Michael will be going to the University of Kentucky,” his mother, Cindy Richardson, said Saturday.

A rising senior at Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, Gilchrist recently Tweeted that he was going to take three official visits, but his mother said that was not the case.

The 6-foot-6 Gilchrist is one of the top players in the Class of 2011 and committed to Kentucky this spring.

He will join a star-studded recruiting class that includes point guard Marquis Teague of Indianapolis Pike and forward Anthony Davis of Chicago Perspectives Charter.

Kyle Wiltjer, a 6-9 forward from Portland, will announce his plans tonight and one online report has him going to Kentucky.

  • I cannot believe I am saying this about a 5-star player but I hope Wiltjer does not come to UK. I think we still have a shot at Quincy Miller. Why take a Top-25 guy when there are still Top-5 guys considering UK?

  • we will still have a shot at q. miller in the spring if he is still available and jones goes pro.

wiltjer would be a great pick up. 6-9 with decent size, just needs a real college work out program. good ball skills and a real good shooter. smart player that works hard…will be in the program 4 years but be able to contribute. perfect player to fill in around the superstars we get along the way.

  • Boston, looks like the UK staff agrees with you… supposedly Cal is out-of-his-mind giddy tonight.

5-star recruit commits without ever being to the state of KY in his life. That’s power.

  • Don’t get tied up in the numbers. Wiltjer is the most skilled power forward in the country. And if it helps, his ranking is going up. So please don’t feel we’re settling or losing out. He’s one dangerous offensive player.
