Clijsters Looking to Repeat at Open; Fed-Nadal Final Looms as Possibility

Kim Clijsters will throw out the first pitch at Citi Field on Friday night.

Two weeks later, she hopes to be the last woman standing at the U.S. Open.

“My husband is probably more excited than I am,” Clijsters, the defending Open champ, told ESPN on Thursday about throwing out the first pitch before the Mets play the Houston Astros. “I’m actually looking forward to it. I’ve got a pretty good shoulder so I think I can throw a good ball out there.”

Clijsters is the No. 2 seed at this year’s Open after winning it as a wild card and a mother last year.
