Fed Should Keep Attacking at Open

If Roger Federer wants to recapture the U.S. Open title he won five years in a row from 2004-08, he should continue to attack the net the way he did at times while winning the title Sunday at the Cincinnati Masters.

In beating Marcos Baghdatis in the semifinals and American Mardy Fish in the final, Federer showed an increased willingness to serve and volley and chip and charge on his return.

Federer beat a resurgent Fish, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (1), 6-4 for his 63rd career title, tying Bjorn Borg for fifth place on the all-time Open Era list. He is the all-time leader with 16 career majors.
