    NEW YORK — Spike Lee says LeBron James will become a hated man in Ohio if he opts to play for the Miami Heat.

    “He’s gonna be a villain,” Lee said at the Amar’e Stoudemire press conference Thursday at Madison Square Garden.

    “If he leaves Cleveland, he’s going to have to sell his house, swear to God. He’s not going to be able to go back in the state. That’s gonna be ugly,” added Lee, a lifetime Knicks’ fan who figures prominently in the documentary “Winning Time: Reggie Miller vs. The New York Knicks.”

    “I’m not wishing that upon him, but just reading stuff, people are already filled with venom and he hasn’t even made his announcement.  I think people in Cleveland, they think he’s gonna go.”

    LeBron James is headed to South Beach and not the Big Apple, according to multiple reports.

    Stephen A. Smith first said he thought James would land in Miami.

    Alan Hahn of Newsday then broke the story via Twitter after midnight Thursday.

    “Multiple sources are telling Newsday that LeBron James has decided to join Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami. The new Big Three is here.”

    ESPN’s Chris Broussard confirmed it Thursday morning via “several sources.”

    James will make his fateful announcement during an hourlong special called “The Decision” on ESPN at 9 p.m. Thursday. Sponsorship sales will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

    Dwyane Wade is staying in Miami, and Chris Bosh is joining him on South Beach.

    Now the question is whether LeBron James will become the third member of the Super Trio.

    “I’m back in Miami…I’m back in Wade County,” Wade said Wednesday on ESPN.

    “I’m joining Mr. Wade in Miami,” Bosh said.

    Both players said they would take less money in order to bring James aboard.

    “It’s no secret that myself and Chris and Lebron are all good friends,” Wade said. “We all came into this league together and played together. But we all make our own decisions at the end of the day so of course we would love for LeBron to join Miami, who wouldn’t? But at the same time, LeBron’s going to make his own decision and that’s a decision that we all will be in front of the TV tomorrow to wait for.”

    Arizona, Cincinnati, Maryland, Rutgers, St. John's, Syracuse, Xavier

    Ever since Maurice Harkless broke the news of his decommitment from UConn on ZAGSBLOG June 21, his stock has been soaring.

    The 6-foot-8, 187-pound Queens native is currently at the Hoop Group Elite Camp in Reading, Pa., where he was the first small forward chosen in the draft of players. His team includes fellow South Kent (Conn.) forward Derrick Randall and Shaq Thomas of NIA Prep.

    St. John’s head coach Steve Lavin and Rutgers head coach Mike Rice are among those following Harkless around the Albright College campus.

    “Memphis, Rutgers, St. John’s, Cincinnati, Maryland, Arizona and Xavier all offered,” Nate Blue, Harkless’ mentor, said in a text. “Syracuse is going to offer before the summer is over, most likely.”
