NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — That Oakland Soldiers are one of the most star-studded outfits on the summer recruiting trail.
With guards Nick Johnson, Josiah Turner and Jabari Brown and 6-9 bigs Kyle Wiltjer and Brandon Ashley (2012), the Soldiers drew everyone from Roy Williams to Gary Williams to Ben Howland at last week’s Peach Jam.
“Before the game I notice who’s in the building. But when the game starts, I’m all about the game,” Wiltjer said.
Wiltjer missed at least one game at the Peach Jam with painful migraine headaches that forced him to visit the emergency room.
“Usually I just sleep it off,” said Wiltjer, a Portland, Ore. native. “But I got dehydrated because I threw up a couple times. So I had to go to the doctor and get IV’s and stuff.
“It’s like one of the most painful things I’ve had to…I mean, it’s worse than a basketball injury because I can’t see anything.”
Wiltjer has to avoid hot dogs and processed meats to avoid the migraines, but thinks the heat may have triggered this one.
As far as schools, the No. 4 power forward in the nation is looking at a ton of high-academic progams such as Kansas, Gonzaga, Oregon, Oregon State, Cal, USC, Stanford, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Texas.
“Pretty much everyone’s equal right now,” he said.
Wiltjer said he plans to narrow his list after the July evaluation period.
Ashley, an Oakland native, is the No. 1 power forward in the Class of 2012 and lists several Pac-12 schools.
“I have offers from UCLA, Cal, Arizona, Washington and Stanford,” he said.
“I can’t say I have any favorites right now.”
Ashley said the list will probably “end up growing and then I’ll end up cutting it down later in my junior year.”

It all started here , with AZ.
USC trojanss avoided the NCAA death penality by cutting the AD head.
YES, the NCAA demanded and new AD at that dirty school.
Remember when I stated that MoMo Jones and D Williams should ask for an unconditional release. And after several weeks of calls from the parents and guardians, BANG…Tim F is GONE and the players are released.
The next school which will face questions pertaining to the death penality is Kentucky and Cali.
Get ready for some NOISE in this area.
Eric B. situation has left the NCAA looking like idiots. And failing to take prudent action.
The fact that Kentucky kicked Eric out of the BB program (demanded he enter the draft) in order to avoid penalities is NOT GOING TO WORK. The NCAA will still get kentucky for its known knowledge (just like the Rose situation.).
Also remember Kentucky had more than SEVEN violations last year, prior to the Eric B. major violation.
Time to do the TIME Kensucky.
Will Cali survive this or will the horsemen give up the AD.
Just like Kansas Gangster U ….he is gone.

You’re such a toolbag. You have no knowledge of what the NCAA is going to do, half the time they don’t even know what they’re going to do. There have been no facts that anything is going to happen to KY or any of its players. The Eric Bledsoe (supposed situation) is nothing compared to Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo taking money from agents.
What I don’t get is you spend more time on this site trying to talk down about other schools, do you ever have time to follow your team and cheer for them? Do you get satisfaction in other teams potentially suffering over your broad assumptions than you would if your team was actually worth a crap and could make the NCAA tournament? You JessieWildcat should get a life and stop acting like you know what is going on with the NCAA because nobody does until something comes out in the press, keep on with your wishful thinking though.
