Andy Rautins grew up in Jamesville, N.Y. as a fan of the Patrick Ewing/John Starks Knicks.
Now the former Syracuse standout has joined that same franchise after being selected 38th in Thursday’s NBA Draft. The Knicks, who did not own a first-round selection, took Stanford forward Landry Fields with the No. 39 pick.
“The feeling of being drafted by the New York Knicks was unreal,” the 6-foot-4 Rautins said Friday on a conference call. “It’s something I couldn’t describe. It’s a team that’s been close to my heart since I was young, especially being an in-state team. One of the most storied franchises in the entire NBA, so it’s a great honor for me and I can’t wait to put on the uniform.”
**The Nets traded guard Chris Douglas-Roberts to the Milwaukee Bucks for a second-round pick in 2012.
