Lance Says He’s ‘Born Ready’ for NBA

GREENBURGH, N.Y. –– Wearing a gray Knicks warmup jersey and his “Born Ready” tattoo on his right arm, Lance Stephenson pronounced himself ready to play in the NBA.

“That name is the definition of me. I’m ‘Born Ready’ for any competition, anything on the next-level stage, or any stage. So I like that name and I’m going to live up to it,” the 6-foot-5, 220-pound Stephenson said Saturday after working out at the Knicks’ Westchester campus.

Asked if he was ‘Born Ready’ to step into the NBA,” Stephenson added, “Of course.”

  • born ready is bench ready. i have no doubt he’ll be drafted in the 1st round, but is there really any hope he’ll get any minutes next year? his slashing is the only ammo he brings to the table and that’s not even nba level. his jumper sucks and he can’t even find the net from the college 3.

btw-this has to be the weakest draft in history and the 1st ever without a bona-fide star.

  • I remember Billy Packer asking Al Mcguire if he thought Kieth Lee was ready for the NBA as an underclassman . Al responded ….I don’t think he’s ready for college yet …let alone the NBA .

  • Wall and Cousins are bonafide stars ….your comment is assinine as usual.

  • Yeah – I don’t understand the no “bona-fide star” comment either. Besides Wall & Cousins, I think Turner & Favors were great in college and could be stars in the NBA.

I agree about Lance, another year or two in school wouldn’t hurt. Having said that, he can always work on his game while getting paid – even if he is on the bench.

  • question then, would you lump any of these guys with the likes of griffin, rose, mayo and beasley? brandon jennings does come to mind though.

  • if you say so… genius.

  • I would say John Wall could be as good as Rose …. hard to tell about the others …. Jennings is better in the NBA than I thought he’d be ….. I wasn’t sure about Mayo coming out of college but he’s turned out to be pretty good. I agree Griffin was a huge deal coming out of college and none of the guys in this class besides Wall caused the same level of excitement. I live in the DC area and the Washington Post is going crazy over Wall.
