Austin Rivers has committed to Florida, but his AAU coach says Duke is leading for his services.

“Now Duke would be the leader but again he’s only been to two places,” Each 1 Teach 1 coach Therion Joseph said in a phone interview.

The 6-foot-3 Rivers plays for Winter Park (Fla.) High and is the No. 2 shooting guard in the Class of 2011.

He initially made a verbal commitment to Florida but opened it up and is now considering Duke, North Carolina, Texas, Kansas, Kentucky and Florida.

“He’s opening it up to everybody,” Joseph said. “He’s going to take a visit to North Carolina. He just talked to Rick Barnes [Monday] and he’s going to take a visit to Texas. And then he will make the best decision for his style of play and hope he gets a good education.”

Hofstra, Transfers

Chaz Williams, a 5-foot-9, 170-pound freshman point guard from Brooklyn, has gotten his release from Hofstra and will transfer.

“I made it official. I got my release,” he said Wednesday.

Providence, Rutgers and La Salle are possible destinations for Williams, who averaged 9.8 points and 4.2 rebounds last season for the Pride.

“I’m just going to see what interest I get and just weigh my options,” he said.

Wherever he lands, Williams wants to win.

Seton Hall

Patrik Auda, a 6-foot-9, 225-pound power forward originally from the Czech Republic, turned down an offer to play professionally in Europe in order to play for Kevin Willard at Seton Hall.

Auda signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Pirates in the fall for Willard’s first year at the Big East school.

“Patrik was recruited by over 50 D1 schools in the States and up until the last few days was pondering a very lucrative offer from a top European club,” Rob Orellana, head coach at the Canarias Basketball Academy in the Canary Islands, wrote in an email.

“Patrik loves the thought of playing alongside experienced Big East players who will help him adjust.”

Alabama, Illinois, Providence, St. John's, West Virginia

Kyle Cain is back from his official visit to West Virginia and must now decide his next move.

The 6-foot-7 forward from New Hampton (N.H.) prep has now taken four official visits and has one remaining.

“He’s going to decide if he’s going to visit either Arizona State or Alabama with his last visit,” New Hampton coach Peter Hutchins said.

Cain visited Rhode Island and Northern Illinois before committing to Rhode Island. After decommitting he has been to Illinois and West Virginia.
