If the good folks at the Maui Invitational have any kind of a sense of humor, they will put Kentucky and Washington in the same bracket this year.

At least that’s what Isaiah Thomas hopes for.

“I hope we play KENTUCKY n[e]xt yr [i]n the Maui classic. All I gotta say is ITS BOUT TO GO DOWN,” Thomas, a sophomore guard for the Huskies, wrote on his Twitter.

You see, Kentucky now has not one, but two former Washington commits.

First, 6-foot-9 Turkish big man Enes Kanter, the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2010 according to Rivals, switched his allegiance to Kentucky from Washington.

Villanova has become Guard U under head coach Jay Wright, producing a string of talented players in Scottie Reynolds, Corey Fisher, Corey Stokes, Dominic Cheek and Maalik Wayns.

Three of those players Fisher, Stokes and Cheek — played at New Jersey high schools.

Now, as Wright plans for the future, he has his gaze focused on yet another talented Garden State guard.

Myles Davis, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound combo guard from Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter’s Prep, is the No. 9 shooting guard in the Class of 2011.

Terrence Jones completed one of the more stunning recruitments in recent memory Wednesday night when he signed with Kentucky after initially making a verbal commitment to Washington.

“We chose Kentucky,” Linda Mashia-Jones, Terrence’s mother, wrote by text at 11:37 p.m.

She later added that Terrence just signed financial aid papers, not an NLI.

“Just fin[ancial] papers,” she wrote by text.

Jones himself later Tweeted: “Either way 1 fan base was gonna hate me ….sooo how much wud u care.”

Rutgers coach Mike Rice continues to add players late in the game for the 2010-11 season.

Tyree Graham, a 6-foot, 190-pound shooting guard who began at Texas Tech before moving on to a North Carolina junior college, announced on Twitter Wednesday night that he had chosen Rutgers over Texas A&M. He had initially given a verbal to A&M.

“I’m going to sign with rutgers in the morning world.. sorry UAB fans. But the guy that recruited is gone so I can’t be a BLAZER..sorry,” Graham wrote on his Twitter.

“Rutgers will be the best situation for me.”
