Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick coach Kevin Boyle will remain a high school coach for now.
Boyle met with new Rutgers head coach Mike Rice about potentially joining his staff, but ultimately decided to remain at the high school level.
Boyle needed certain salary requirements and guarantees about the status of the Kevin Boyle Basketball Camp that could not be met by Rutgers.
Regarded as one of the top high school coaches in the nation, Boyle led the Celtics to three of four New Jersey Tournament of Champions titles between 2006-09. The team was banned from the state tournament in 2010 for holding out-of-season workouts.
Boyle has coached numerous pro and high-level Division 1 players, including Al Harrington, Samuel Dalembert, Jeff Robinson, Dexter Strickland and Kyrie Irving.
He also interviewed for the recent opening at Columbia, which ended up going to Kyle Smith.
Rice made former Georgetown assistant David Cox his associate head coach and has added Jimmy Martelli as an assistant and retained Jimmy Carr as recruiting coordinator.
That leaves one opening at Rutgers, with Fordham assistant Van Macon being one potential option.

At this point, it’s hard to predict with certainty where Kadeem Jack will end up. The 6-9 Rice High School product initially committed to South Kent (Conn.) prep before drawing interest from Kentucky and North Carolina. Kyle Cain, the 6-7 F from New Hampton (N.H.) prep, will visit Arizona State June 2.
“I don’t have a favorite school right now, but the one that stands out the most is probably Arizona State because they need immediate help with the forward spot and the three spot,” he said recently.
“They don’t have that many forwards so it’s like if I go to Arizona State, there may be a chance of me starting there as a freshman.”
