Thomas Hoping for UK-UW Showdown

If the good folks at the Maui Invitational have any kind of a sense of humor, they will put Kentucky and Washington in the same bracket this year.

At least that’s what Isaiah Thomas hopes for.

“I hope we play KENTUCKY n[e]xt yr [i]n the Maui classic. All I gotta say is ITS BOUT TO GO DOWN,” Thomas, a sophomore guard for the Huskies, wrote on his Twitter.

You see, Kentucky now has not one, but two former Washington commits.

First, 6-foot-9 Turkish big man Enes Kanter, the No. 3 prospect in the Class of 2010 according to Rivals, switched his allegiance to Kentucky from Washington.

Then on Wednesday night, the final night of the NCAA late signing period, word came down that 6-9 forward Terrence Jones of Portland (Ore.) Jefferson — the No. 13 player in the Class — signed scholarship papers with John Calipari’s team after verbally committing to Washington April 30.

At a press conference.

Before his family, friends and God himself.

“Ha Im not mad,” Thomas Tweeted. “There no reason I should be mad. I respect Tjones n the wildcats. I jus want 2 play them so please people who hatin fall back.”

Speaking of hated, Jones isn’t exactly Mr. Popular in the Northwest right about now.

“Either way 1 fan base was gonna hate me ….sooo how much wud u care,” Jones Tweeted.

He added: “Yeah most hated player n 2010 goes 2 me.”

So there you have it.

If ESPN and the good folks in Maui want some, ahem, good theater and a healthy dose of controversy, they’ll see to it that the Cats and Huskies find their way onto the same basketball court in November.

Here’s hoping they do.

  • why would he want to get embarrassed. UW is nothing without Jones or Kanter

  • why would “espn and the good folks in maui” have to do anything, both teams just have to win for a showdown to take place. regardless what is dialed down … there will be bad blood.

  • Got to love it…a whole story based on high school and college kids twitter accounts! Got to love the new ‘media’ world…reporters don’t have to leave their parents basement for a story! Ha ha! Its like giving all the amateur bloggers a free quotebook to work off of and report it as ‘news’ and put the real media outlets out of business! Anyway (not directed at ZagsBlog, as SNY is a legit news outlet)…

Why all the anger at Calipari at this time…Jones committed during a signing period but did NOT sign the LOI…so, what did Cal do wrong.

No fan of Cal…but, not seeing where the firestorm at him is coming.

    Go Sox

    Poppy

  • UK Still has a great shot at landing Arnett Moultrie this year,he’ll have to sit but,a big piece for 2011….

    Go Cats!

  • UW is actually a top 15 team without both of them

  • UK doesn’t have a great chance. Texas does. Of course Cal would want to recruit a Memphis kid after he fully develops and is assured a first round pick whenever he goes.

He didn’t even look at Moultrie when at Memphis. Just funny, and now he’s going after Joe Jackson, Tarik Black, Adonis Thomas, Jarnell Stokes, and AM.

  • A PRESEASON top 15 team. Yes. I suspect they will be lucky to hover around the top 20 next year without Q Pon. But they do have some good peices, but a few holes as well.

  • I couldn’t agree with you more.

  • Every team this year has holes; there are no great teams.

In a weak Pac-10, they’ll dominate, or at least they should. Gaddy and Ross will be a very good backcourt combo

  • I would agree that all teams have holes. I wouldn’t, however, agree that all teams have as big a hole as UW has next year.

  • Will be a good WIN for UW and their dangerous backcourt. Huskies added some decent size that they didn’t have last season. Making it to to sweet 16 last season, without one player over 6’9” is pretty impressive.

  • Yeah,Texas is a player as well but,I’m hearing good things for him to land at UK…We shall see how it plays out..

  • I need you to throw a harder insult my way. I’m feeling awfully good. Throw it HARD!

  • Dawgs have 4 starters returning and 4 key reserves. In other words, most of their team. They will have older, more seasoned players from the beginning. More potential than last year’s good team. Faves to take the Pac-10. Cats have, what, one starter returning? Two or three players with any significant minutes? Advantage playing as a team: Dawgs.

All the new talent brings uncertainty for the Cats. Like last year, it will take time for so many new starters to understand what Cal wants. In time, they could be scary. I see more potential. But at Maui, they’ll still be getting to know each other.

We’ve taken UW’s best new talent, used Coach Romar as our west coast recruiter, so it’s a grudge match for them. Wouldn’t surprise me a bit to see them win.

  • Kansas fans are really worried about the Big Blue. They always want to chime in and say something negative about our program so it will make them feel better. They know what is coming in the next two years!

  • Is someone needing attention addressing me? Someone who always needs to TRY and get the last word in? LOL Someone who runs and messages the site administrator, snitching and crying because he got his feelings hurt? I smell a RAT. LOL Anyway, I was told to ignor you lil guy. Too bad I can’t give you the smack down anymore, you snitched me out like a lil sissy in a skirt. 😛 Must be a mamas boy. Im done with you now snitch. LOL

  • Whats in two years? Cals flame out in Chicago, and Travis Ford looking to replace recruits? LOL

  • Get lost phog boy! Sounds like you got your feelings hurt because somebody talked back to your ass! I’ve been reading your biased comments for a couple of weeks now. Go back to your hole and crawl in! Your not needed here.

  • We have a new green horn to this thread? Don’t you mean finally someone stood up to blabitch? LOL I have nothing to say to you either. Nice attempt to grow some balls though.

  • HARDER!

  • Here chicky, chicky, chicky! Kansas will not win the Big 12 next year either phog boy! Kansas State, Baylor, and Missouri are all better now. Plus they will all last past the second round of the tournament. LOL

  • Nice try, they said that about Texas this past year, winning the Big 12. I wonder if uk can win the weak sec back to back this coming year though. Could uk be facing 2 early season losses to UW and UNC? Remember, your recruiting class is not as good as last years MEMPHucky class. 😛

  • Wallcuz, the Phogster has been diagnosed with OCD-WATB syndrome.

This happens when the team you have loved and cherished for years gets beat by Northern Iowa and your players lay down on the court and cry real tears.

My understanding is that teams in the Big 12 are getting counseling instruction so they won’t hurt Kansas players’ feelings in conference games next season. The NCAA is concerned that this might provoke other teams into calling the wahhmbulance. I mean, people from Haiti called to see if there was anything they could do.

Teams lose games. If your team plays lousy they should lose. Crack open a cold one and on to the next challenge. But why did Kansas play like they didn’t care if they lost, and then suddenly when they lost, they cared a whole lot?

Speaking for myself, there are a lot of teams’ fans that can talk smack. Washington had a good tournament. Maui is early, it’s just for bragging rights, if UW gets up, maybe they can teach Kentucky something.

But Kansas! Man, those fans can talk if they want, but nobody is thinking anything except, “Yeah, yeah, I hear you guys are getting new unis with hankie pockets in the shorts.”

  • Point proven.:P That was to easy, how many times did he/she sit there refreshing the page. So easily predictible. Must not have a woman or a life. L8TR H8R

  • Somebody is scared of UW, already making early excuses for it being the pre-season. LOL What an idiot!! That way when the loss happens, it will be less of a blow/ After all that smack talk saying how weak the Pac10 is, but thats beside the point. Getting beat by a PAC10 school will be as bad as losing to a team (soyh carolina) that didn’t even make the tourney. How did it taste being #1 for less than 24 hours? Like Devan Downey’s nutt sack? LMAO!!

  • See, that’s EXACTLY the same comment he made the last time I gigged him. Devan Downey. Like we’re incapable of appreciating a great game by Downey.

Phog is like a frog in high school chemistry. Touch his leg with a wire and…

Normally I enjoy it when haters climb on one of my teams…it means they’re in pain.

But the Phog here is in SO MUCH pain that it’s…ewwww….

He has all his comments written on a cocktail napkin, 1,2,3,4… because he’s in too much agony to think of something new to say. He is totally incapable of saying anything funny.

If this was a college class we’d be putting him on “alert status”. No belts, no forks, nothing with an edge on it.

His entire commentary kind of boils down to “I know you are but what am I?” He’s like the PeeWee Herman of BB blog posters.

It would be nice if he would just disappear…but it reminds us that there is suffering in the world…

  • Creature you are the sh!t! This Kansas fan is so insecure about his team and so obsessed with Kentucky its pathetic! Two words. Northern Iowa! No Kentucky didn’t win the national title either, but the year before we were in the freaking NIT dude. Our season this year was a success with all the new players and new coach. On the other hand you had players that had been together for two years or more and still couldn’t get it done. I guess championship success doesn’t mean much in Jaybird country. Plus Collins was such a ball hog!!!

  • HARDER!!!!!!!

  • You know that taste to phoggy when the kid from Northern Iowa hit the three to send you home. BOO HOO! Poor little jaybird fan. Second round TKO BABY!!!

  • Still better than the jayhawk recruiting class. Josh(i’m all about me)Selby. He will hog the ball just like Collins did this past season.

  • BTW Phog, Devan Downey called, he said for you to get his genitalia out of your mouth.

  • I don’t know if you are a Kentucky fan or not, but you and I are coming from the same place when it concerns this Kansas blow hard!

  • X on Calipari: The Lexington Herald-Leader warns readers that Kentucky coach John Calipari still could wind up in the NBA even though he says he’s staying at UK.

Henry, who had committed to play for Calipari at Memphis, recalled Calipari telling him he’d not be taking the Kentucky job.

“My dad was was big on coach Cal. I was big on coach Cal as well. The day before, he told me he wasn’t going (to UK), and he really wasn’t thinking of going to Kentucky,” Henry said. “Then the next day I saw he went to Kentucky. I felt that if he was going to leave Memphis and go to Kentucky, maybe we (he and brother C.J.) should go somewhere else, too.”

Henry wound up at KU. “He has his own agenda. He has dreams, too. He said his dream was to coach Kentucky. I can’t not like him for that. He went for his dream. I’m going to try to fulfill mine. It’s not a big deal,” Henry said.

  • Downey schooled that ass!!! 😛

The same way Gaddy & Thomas are going to do in Maui, They only had the best backcourt in the nation last year, what you think got them the pac10 title and tourney bid? I know uk is scared of that backcourt.

  • Just like they fear a Selby, Taylor, and a Elijah Johnson Jayhawk backcourt. I know all ya’ll remember Mr. Johnson, who waved a KU shirt and diss’d the uk faithful in your own home state. LOL Remember you guys wanted him too?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpgtx0YsxJA

We are going to be a quicker and more athletic Kansas team that is going to get out and run the open court in transition. Watch out for the BEAST THOMAS ROBINSON!! If you don’t know, better google him. And of course our Morris Twins. And for your info, Woolridge carried and led the USA 18 under team. Better google the stats, being thats how you all get your info anyway. LOL

    cal to the B ULLS!!

    Sleep well…..

  • “When it comes to basketball, no one’s better,” Zach Peters said of Bill Self. “His basketball IQ is just the best. I think he’s arguably the best college basketball coach ever.”

Peters certainly had his options when choosing a college. Heck, he could have broken out a map and picked any school in any state. Kansas, North Carolina, Kentucky and Texas were his final four. Not a bad list, considering the first three are the winningest programs in the history of college basketball.

Of all the campuses, something stood out about Lawrence.

“All the buildings are like castles,” Peters said. “All the people seemed great. I never ran into somebody who didn’t have a smile on their face. Everyone seemed happy. It just seemed like a really great environment.”

What really sealed the deal for Peters, though? KU coach Bill Self and assistant coach Danny Manning.
    http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2010/may/20/picture-perfect-recruit-says-kansas-ideal/

  • You’re right in your assessment of UW. They needed a scorer on the wing, and TJones would have been that. Isaiah can’t do it all by himself. They should win the Pac-10. Anything else is a huge disappointment.

Gonna be real interesting if they meet up in Maui!! lol.

  • That’s what she said 😉

  • We shall. I earlier post was a direct result of being tired. My bad, bro.

Texas is said to be the leader at this point from my sources at Raleigh-Egypt, and some of Moultrie’s friends.

UK is going after him hard, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went there. I’m very curious to see how he fits in the DDMO.

  • All those players might get you to the sweet 16, but wait then you would have to play Radford and lose again. Kentucky may fear some teams this season, but Kansas isn’t one of them. Henry is weird and didn’t fit at Kentucky. Calipari isn’t going anywhere, you are just hoping he is so Kentucky doesn’t dominate the headlines like we did last year! By the way…….. good morning and I slept great!

  • I am genuinely bewildered about the obsession KU fans have with UK and Calipari. I am not saying that as a put-down of KU. I honestly do not understand it. Just take a peek at the message boards on TheShiver.com or comments on KUSports.com. It seems like KU fans want to talk more about UK and Cal than KU!

This would have been somewhat understandable if Calipari/Memphis beat KU for the title but it was the other way around.

And please don’t give me the holier than thou crap of Cal being bad for the college game. If UK was losing or not getting recruits, KU fans would not care a bit.

  • Thank you! I don’t get it either. Are they jealous or what? I mean they have Bill Self who beat Calipari and Memphis in the 2008 title game. We do need at least a final four appearance in 2011or 2012 to avoid being called paper champions, but I for one am confident Cal will deliver one!

  • Agreed. lol

  • did someone really just say washington had the best backcourt in the nation last year?

i’m a pac-10 fan through and through and although i am a fan of arizona and not washington, i can respect the late season run they made last year, but by no means was it because they had “the best backcourt in the nation” … abdul gaddy looked like and played like the youngest player in the conference, he had his moments, but by no means lived up to the hype. although i expect him to this season.

  • Actually, lol, that’s what I was going for! I was hoping he would say something one more time, then I was going to post. “Whew, it was good for me, was it good for you?”

  • WOWZERS!! lmao. I caught that, so I figured I’d contribute to it.

We’re all kids on the inside. 🙂

  • You have to be kidding me…We have a Jayhawk fan that is reading our next day’s paper (Lexington Herald Leader) at 1:44 a.m. in the morning. Do you not have anything better to do? Go to a bar, go to a strip joint? Get L@iD.

Buddy- Are you that desperate to find a news store to chat about? I am sure you can find out where Self is on Vacation at since he is not doing any recruiting and find some news that would entertain you low-life fan base.
You are so jealous of Cal and Kentucky it makes me feel sorry for you. That early in the morning trying to find out something about Kentucky–Wow!

  • All the same lame typical responses I expected to hear from the uk family, and I do mean FAMILY. LOL avoiding key points is a sign of denial. And saying X. Henry was would not fit at uk is such a stupid statement. Everyone knew you guys didn’t have a pure shooter. Are you still butt hurt he didn’t go to uk? Even your own fan base said they needed a shooter and wished it was X. Any other stupid remarks? I seemed to have set off some emotions with posting what your very own newspaper said. LOL somebody is SKURD? *GIGGLES* sleep well tonight ladies! One morning you are going to wake up to some devestating news and will cry. Don’t forget, I am on the westcoast, so I am not the one up late. It’s still early here while you are sound asleep dreaming of winning championship. Please bring the more lame typical responses. Deep down talent and depth wise, you know Kansas can take you guys down. He’ll, even UW can stick it to you guys as of right now. And I am just not saying that, it is the truth. TJ is good, but in no way shape or form can he bang with Thomas Robinson or Marcus Morris at this stage in the game. Not physically or mentally. Have you even seen T. Robinson and his NBA frame? He came that way out of high school. I hope they put uk in our bracket this year. It would be much worse than what buggy bear and WV did to you guys this past season. LOL Much Much worse, like the beatdown we laid on UNC in 08. Sleep well, knowing your precious calimari may bolt for the Bulls.

  • HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you. 🙂 Bill took cal down in stride.

  • I know it hurts, Travis Ford is a good coach though. Maybe he can actually restore some of your History & Tradition at uk. Because right now, it is just tainted blue blood.

Rod Strickland – “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can; and the wisdome to know the difference.” as spoken at last nights Lexington AA meeting.

    LOL Sleep well tonight…..

  • Your an idiot! Did you have a bad thinking about how your precious Jayhawks lost to a mid major! Like I said before you have been on here for who knows how long and all you do is bash Kentucky. Thats all you do! We had a new coach and and alot of new players and had a good year, but all your going to do is find something wrong with because your a hater. Hate all you want and Cal going to the Bulls is not going to happen. If he does I’ll dress up in that stupid disco outfit Bill Self keeps in his closet! Go hate Duke, North Carolina, UCLA, or any other team that has more NCAA titles. That is really what your jealous of anyway. Bye hater!

  • Nah, I don’t think I can hate on UNC, DUKE OR UCLA because they have respectable coaches. Emphisis on COACHES. 😛 2 of the 3 which can actually lay claim to final fours and championships. Can uk’s person in charge claim any such accomplishments on a resume? LMAO!! I THINK NOT.

Yes we lost a mid-major, which was a conference champion – and one of 64 teams in the field. We didn’t lose to a sec chump that wasn’t in the tourney. So I ask you again, how did Devan Downey’s nutts taste? LOL You were #1 for what, LESS THAN 24 HOURS? You didn’t even get to taste it!! LOL

Did you win or trophy or raise a banner last season? Thats a big fat NO!! Did Kansas win a trophy or win a banner last season? So what is your point? What did the #1 recruiting class in the nation get you? NOTHING. Huggy Bear took you guys down, thus ending your hopes and denying you chumps a trip to Indy. Once again: FINAL FOUR DENIED FOUR calimari.

Sleep well knowing cal wants to make 5 million + a year and coach LeBron in Chicago. He would be stupid not to jump at the chance. Its not like the guy is a alumni of uk. Goodnight…..Sweet Pea.

  • I love uk fans touting their 7 national championships when 4 of them were won on the backs of segregation and Jim Crowe; you guys won 32-team tournaments while refusing to play any teams with black players (Glory Road, anyone?). In the Commonwealth, Adolph Rupp is painted as a patriarch when the guy was an unadulterated racist and bigot. I’ll take Duke’s 4 titles in the past 19 years (in the 65-team era) over uk’s diluted 7 any day of the week.

  • uk fans should be happy if he leaves…..calipari constantly recruits one-and-dones while never winning a championship. That and the fact that he has no loyalty.

uk fans are desperate though…they’ll constantly be on here defending “their coach.” Good luck finding another one next year.

  • It seems Kentucky fans have forgotten about this past decade. Irrelevancy breeds ignorance.

  • Good to know you remember the drill at AA meetings, Phugster.

  • Yes, Bill took Cal down. His throat. Seriously, some Kansas fan on Ebay is selling handkerchiefs that are supposed to have magic healing powers – supposedly they were wet with Self’s tears after the Northern Iowa game…or maybe it’s just the kleenex he blew his nose with.

  • Your are one sad guy…As Kansas drops to 4 or 5 in the Big 12 this year (next year they want even be a big twelve—only Kansas and a few others will be left). Maybe they can join the PAC-10 and they can come out and join you on the West Coast. By the way—I heard that Self did not get that Assistant Job at that all girls college in Arizona.

Rumor has it he is going to be in Lexington tomorrow after Payne visits and he wants to be Cal’s assistant. Since he can’t beat him in recruiting –he might as well join him. However-he will be denied By Cal once more and we will hire Payne as our assistant. What I am hearing around Lexington is that Cal and Payne will do to Kansas to what was done to Washington this year. We already take your top recruits and next year we will take those that say they are going to Kansas. We have to get them for they do their “sissy” skits at their midnight madness…LOL 🙂

  • Truth Hurts!!

    I know. LOL

  • LMAO!! Last I remember, cal lost out on several target recruits this year. And as I stated b4, #1 recruiting class gave you guys false hope last season. DENIED!! NOPE, TRY AGAIN!! LOL

“oh please please coach cal stay, we need you!!big blue nation will be nothing without you. The nba is not all hyped up as it sounds”

    ROFFL!!! HAHA!!

    Some people are certainly scared.

  • Let’s look at the metaphors in this “comment” by the Phuggish One.

“I mean FAMILY” = indicates incest in his own family.
“You guys didn’t have a shooter” = indicates Phog can’t reach orgasm.
“Are you butt hurt” = Phog’s butt aches for some reason.
“I seem to have set off some emotions” = I wish I could feel something
“SKURD” = Phog belongs to some sort of Nordic cult
“One morning you will cry” = Phog cries every night
“I am not the one up late” = Phog has no reason to be up late
“Deep down…can take you guys down…can stick it to you guys” = wish list for Phog
“In no way can he bang with Thomas Robinson” = Phog wants to bang TR/MM
“Not physically or mentally” = Phog is impotent
“Have you seen T.R. and his NBA frame?” = Phog drooling
“He came that way…” = needs no explanation
“What Buggy Bear did to you guys” = this is an actual Freudian slip. It’s HUGGY Bear…but Phog’s mind is in the gutter…
“Worse, like the beatdown we laid on…” = the “beat” goes on
“Your precious calimari… = Calimari is a type of wiggly white tube-shaped thing that you eat. Or at least some people do. Or think about eating.

OK, on the basis of these repeated sexual metaphors I’m renewing the suicide watch on Phog. Whichever Zhayhawke got the surrogate training – maybe if you let Phog “do his thing” you can save his life.
    …maybe not…

Anyway…this is way beyond mere basketball. This is anthropology, the blogger equivalent of the Elephant Man. Well, don’t despair Phog as I remember the Elephant Man did get laid once.

  • Gotta run now, some of us have lives and women on the weekends. We don’t sit at home on friday night refreshing the page over and over. LMAO!!! GET A LIFE AND A LADY!!!

calisleazy to the BULLS!! Sleep well SWEET PEA!!!!

    LOL

    Goodnight

  • Wow, Phog is now living on top of old posts’ comment sections!

Personally I think you should honor Devan Downey’s understandable desire for you to stop obsessing about his genitals.

I think we’re all honestly concerned at this point. Where on the West Coast are you? Is there a 24-hour hotline available? Try to hang on. At least three of the players that wet their pants on national TV are gone now.

  • First of all—only so many scholarships…Some of the players like Selby would be sitting on the bench behind Knight and I am telling you Cal did not want Selby’s mom being the assistant coach. Knight and Jones was our #1 and #2 targets and we got both. Kanter and the rest of the group was icing on the cake… Missed out on a few—but you can only start 5!

Last year with our #1 recruiting class we started the season out at #12 and we ended at #5…Not bad for that #1 Recruiting class.

Lets see…where did the baby jayhawks start the year out—#1…Where did they end up at the end of the season???—I dont know because I dont care and I don’t pay attention, but I know Kentucky finished the year better with their freshman class vs. your experienced club…That was the team that got their a** kicked by the football team—right???

  • Recent research indicates obsessive use of the Internet abbreviation LMAO (laughing my ass off) indicates that the user has a desire to get rid of a body part he or she is not proud of…

Phog’s posts, when made under pressure (he always takes off about 30 min. after I show up) become even more revealing in psychological terms. This is no bullshit. This guy could become the basis for academic research.

“Some of us have lives and women on the weekends” = yes, and some of us have wives and children, and some of us can get blown while we’re sitting here doing research into deviant anthropology.
“We don’t sit at home on Friday night…” = Why not? Good TV night. Unless you are very young, and sitting home on Friday night is like some kind of personal defeat.
“LMAO…GET A LIFE AND A LADY” = as we all know, all caps indicates hysteria on the Internet. It’s also an indication of Phog’s own desire complex – a complex that would not have to be expressed in hysterical terms if he had a normal social life.

As Freud said, in a healthy sex life no neurosis is possible. But Phog’s posting is nothing if not neurotic tending toward the psychotic. There will be a catastrophic break, eventually.

  • And just because you furnish your own all-caps laugh track doesn’t mean you are ever funny.

But I’m not the first to tell you that, am I?

  • Don’t answer him, don’t let him determine the direction of things. Look at what he says and then think: who is saying this? It is as if Kentucky losing a ballgame is something somebody thinks about for days. Or as if everything that happens in a competitive sense is immediately converted into a metaphor about sex. Honestly, I wasn’t exactly overjoyed to see Devan go for 30 but that was the high point of his basketball life, who can complain.

I’m beginning to think that this person is very young, like 11. There’s a certain lack of variation. If it was an adult I would have to suspect drug addiction – something slowing down the mental response to an alarming degree. But if the poster is an actual child, then that would account for all the references to sexual activity. I’ve noticed that blog posters of a certain age who are trying to pass for adults apparently think that is how to prove you’re older.

Don’t bother disagreeing with Phog. He should be studied.

  • Hey this phoggy feather guy looks at college basketball with blinders on. He only wants to give certain teams or coaches any pub and thats just the way he is. The phoggy one for sure watches games alone when he is not out with all his purty girls and looking on the Herald Leaders website for sh!t we’ve already read or will read! Your out numbered dude! Go call out Texas fans or Baylor and leave the best fan base in basketball college or pro out of your ramblings. Where you going tonight phoggy? A meeting of the minds with Downey’s nut sack. Later hater.

  • Bust his ass creature!!!!!!!!!!

  • He has a man crush on Devan Downey.

  • Weak.

  • Lets talk some college basketball now and forget all this other bullsh!t. Pre-season top five.

    1. Michigan State(experience)

    2. Duke(experience. freshmen bad boys and curry)

    3. Purdue(loaded)

    4. Kansas State?

    5.?

    11. Kentucky(to low or to high?

  • I’m with you my friend!

  • Thats all you can say? LOL

  • 1940s – 1950s: KY basketball found guilty of point shaving. Received the NCAA version of the death penalty.
1950s – 1960s: KY Adolph refuses to recruit African American players. Why? He knew the racist boosters would go berserk. Finally, in 1969, KY Adolph gets Thomas Payne as his first African American player. In such a learned environment as KY, what did the fans do? They booed Payne on their own home court. Why? He was black.
1980s: Players cheating on college entrance exams and packages of money bursting open before being received by recruits. KY fires Eddie Sutton and AD just in time to avoid getting hit with modern version of NCAA death penalty. Oh yes, and KY suffers its worst loss ever (to KU) in 1989 to close out the decade on a high note.
1990s: KY runs off Pitino, their best coach in years. He then returns to the great state of KY, except in archival Louisville. You must be so proud.
2000s: KY hires their first African American coach in late 1990’s. Not bad. But, soon runs him off because he ran a clean program and did not win a second NC title, after he just won his first NC at KY. Nice loyalty. Later, KY hires a good coach in Billy Clyde and then drives him to drink. But that’s OK; KY then hires the sleaziest coach currently available – a man who has abandoned two separate Final Fours at two different schools. Yeah Id be real proud.

  • Whatever your effort is i’ll effortlessly better ya,
I could sever both of my feet and still be 2 steps ahead of ya.

Wanna try again son? LMAO!!! Poor loser has nothing else to do on a friday night, instead of argue about his weak team in the off season. Get a woman andd gead to the club or something. Your prolly a 5’8 265 lb harry bear with a greasy stained shirt, sitting by your computer inhaling hot wings. LMAO!! Don’t forget to refresh your page, LOL

You are cheap amusement and have everyone here busting up laghing. Yeah, I connected the laptop to the projection. Sippin’ beers and laughing at you. They are predicting what you will say next. I said that is not much of a bet, cuz its easy. LMAO!!

  • Pussycat, lyrically I’ll murk you
    Physically I’ll hurt you
You ain’t never ran the streets, you had a curfew.

    HAHA ROFFL!!

  • The SILENCE from the peanut section……….

Oh, how sweet it is. LMFAO!!!!

The fear that runs through the uk faithful’s veins, each morning they pick up the herald leader. PRICELESS!!! LOL!!!

They always take a deep breath and ask themselves “please don’t let this be the day?”. You guys are so pathetic and predictable. Wake up each morning looking for any news on kuntucky basketball. I know why there is so much incest in the state of kentucky. It is because there is nothing else to look forward to, other than basketball season. Oh, and all couple of minutes of a kentucky derby. LMAO!!

Fact is: uk has won nothing in the 21st. century. ZERO!!!!!

    Bill Self 1 > john calipari 0 😛

  • kuntucky is great at winning the recruiting championship, but when it comes to winning an actual Championship, not so much. Elite teams (Duke, UNC, Kansas, Syracuse, Nova,MSU,UCONN etc) will keep taking kuntucky out in the Tourney because they’ll have no experience or chemistry every year despite all the talent. If calisleazy couldn’t even get to the Final Four with Wall, Cousins, Bledsoe and Jr. Patterson, this years’ crop will be lucky to crack the Sweet 16.

  • Hence, the need for toilet paper. Because he/she smells like shyt too!! LOL!! Why you think it has the id “creature”? The hillbilly form of a sasquatch was seen running the hills in kentucky screaming for cal not to go to Chicago. 😛

  • ROFFL!!!!

  • Didn’t Downey get sec player of the week, for the beatdown he laid on uk’s defense? Didn’t that guy that calls himself coach know what a box and 1 is? LMAO!!! Any smart coach would of put bledsoe on downey in a box and 1 defense. What a fool!!! LOL

  • cal wants a Text Book: Basketball Book for Dummies Book for father’s day. LMAO!!!!!!

  • cal didn’t want Selby? LOL Are you a fool? Sure you would say that, because Josh rejected uk. He didn’t even want to show up to your campus. LOL Selby is #1 and Knight is #6, do the math. I remember uk was hyped when they heard Josh was on his way to kentucky for a visit. Got your hopes shot down again, when he didn’t show up. LMAO!!! That was hilarious!! Selby has already proven he has the better all around game. You see Knight in Mcds AA game, tryna bomb 3s and throwing up bricks. HAHA!!

  • Pre-Season polls are meaningless. Ask North Carolina. 😛

  • What happened to the big night out phoggy? Did you bore her(or him) with your obsession with Kentucky Basketball. By the way what is their to look forward to in Kansas besides sh!tty weather? Oh wait! Another March meltdown. Yea this hasn’t been our best decade thats for sure, but we had some good teams that fell short. Our recruiting was not very good until Cal came on board. Tubby got a little lazy on recruiting with trying tosell the name on the jersey. Doesn’t work in today’s college basketball where the players want to play for a coach and not the name on the front of the jersey. I do give credit where credit is due and you guys had the better decade from 2000-2009. Three Final Fours and a NCAA Title. Kentucky will take the 90’s though between the two schools. Four Final Fours and Two NCAA Titles. Yes, the 90’s are over, but so is the last decade and it looks to me like it has all evened out. Kansas wins the 80’s(86,88) Kentucky wins the 70’s(75,78) so its a push.

  • Just making conversation man if you don’t like don’t post!

  • ok. He scored 30 and beat us and we returned the favor and as far as being number one is cool and all that, but staying in the top five and trying to get a one seed is what its all about.

  • Just borrow the one Bill Self has in his office.

  • AUTHENTIC. 😛 LOL!!

  • #1 Seed got you nothing!!!! DENIED.

  • Get a room, LOL

  • Get a woman, then you wouldn’t need to make conversation. LOL

  • I am on my iphone, but had to check in on you guys. Its only 11:50 pm here, and we out having fun. I just gad to show some people im with your guys obsession with nothing better for you to do. Some even took the time to comment, its good amusement to them as well. One Husky fan even spilled her drink laughing too hard. LOL

  • Want a Corona?? Maybe it will lighten you up.

  • This post is now boring. I will not read it anymore and wait for a new one. LOL In the meantime uk fans, sleep tight and pray cal stays at uk. KU would love to bet him again. LOL

I wonder who will be dumb enough to post multiple and long posts, when I won’t even read them. My money is on that snitch blasphemy. ROFFL!! He never has anything better to do with his sorry life.

    cal to the Bulls…

    Sleep well

  • Only when you and Devan Downey get one. lol and all your other abreviated bullsh!t!

  • ELITE 8 vs Second Round. Its all about trying to get the best seed you possibly can for the NCAA Tournament and then survive and advance, but your so focused on Kentucky and your lmao, lol, rrffl and LL COOL J and instead why don’t you focus on Kansas and leave Kentucky to be bashed by critics with no agenda, because sir you do have an ax to grind when it comes to Kentucky. I’ll see you at the Final Four in Houston on April 2 2011. We will take an elite 8 after being in the NIT the year before, wouldn’t you?

  • Thank you! I knew you of all people would be impressed. lol back.

  • You were alone last night and you know it. Did you show them all your comments too or did you just show them what you wanted? Dude I’ll tell you this I never post on the comment section because I usually am content to just read them and move. Everyone is always fairly objective and that includes fans from all college basketball teams, but when I read your comments they were always trying to belittle people and fans of Kentucky. Did a boy from Kentucky used to pick on you in school? Did you watch Kentucky on TV so much you got sick of them? Other people just write stuff and actually stick to basketball. Why not try that and see if you like it and then show all your friends how smart you can be when your not being an ass. you can even use your iphone too.

  • Thank goodness. Now get the hell out of here you Jayhawk piece of sh!t! I’ll be looking for you on here now and everytime I see featherphag25 on here I’ll jump right in buddy. You are a disgrace to all the actual Kansas fans who do not resort to name calling. I tried to hold a civil conversation and your just not capable. Keep telling your self Cal is leaving and maybe sooner or later you will believe it. So long!

  • I’d have Duke as my #1, but the top 3 are pretty much interchangeable.

    1. Duke
    2. Michigan State
    3. Purdue
    4. Ohio State
    5. Pittsburgh
    6. Kansas State
    7. Villanova
    8. Missouri
    9. Kentucky
    10. Florida
    11. Kansas
    12. Memphis
    13. Baylor
    14. Gonzaga
    15. Washington

  • HAREDER!!!!!!!!

  • HARDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!**

  • I’ll have what ^he’s having 😉

  • The Big 10 has some quality teams and players coming back. Ohio State has a couple of dynamic freshmen and they will be in the hunt. Michigan State and Purdue are loaded. What do you think about Indiana? If Tom Crean has another losing season will he be on the hot seat? I would agree that Kentucky is a top ten team and so is Florida. Is Butler top 25 now that Heyward is gone? Tennessee? North Carolina will be alot better and North Carolina State will be a player in the ACC this year. UCLA?

  • If Indiana wins 18 games this year, then it’ll show that Crean is making progress. They went from like 6 games won to 13 last year. People forget what he had to overcome after Sampson left. He’s got some good pieces there, and continues to get on top prospects’ lists. Give Crean some time, and he’ll turn around IU. They’ll always be competitive in a game while he’s coaching. He shouldn’t be on the hot seat, but I can see why boosters or fans would be calling for his head. He’s as good a X and O’s coach as the game has.

Butler is still top 25. Stevens has done a good job recruiting underrated guys and putting them in a system that will always keep them in games. Matt Howard is the X factor. IF he learns not to foul out every game, they’ll still be very dangerous. I like Nored and Veasly.

Tennessee is top 25, but Hopson has to step it up, and Harris has to make an impact right away. This is the most talent Pearl has ever coached; let’s see what he can do with it. He is a better coach with little to no talent.

UNC will be much better this year, but their lack of a frontcourt will hinder them, which is ironic because their frontcourt was the best part of the team last year. Henson has to get stronger, Drew has to continue to progress at point guard, and their freshmen have to play at a high level. Don’t sleep on Leslie MacDonald or Strickland. At any given time they can get hot very quickly.

NC State will be a very dangerous team. CJ Leslie and Tracy Smith are a very potent frontcourt, similar to what Favors and Lawal were for GTech this past year. Their backcourt freshmen are very good, but they’ll need some time to be completely effective. Sydney Lowe saved his job with this class, now we get to see if he deserved it.

UCLA will be a middle of the pack Pac-10 team. A 4th place finish or better will be a good year.

    Sorry for the length, lol.

  • Some food for thought: Vegas’ Lines to win the National Title

    1)Duke 500
    2) Purdue 500
    3) UK 800
    4) MSU 1000
    5) MEMPHIS 1500
    6) Kansas 1500
    7) Baylor 1500
    8) UNC 1800

The number next to the team name shows how much you win if you put $100 down on the team, and they win the National Title.

  • The smiley face next to UNC was meant as 8 ) but I guess smiley’s are turned on here, so it made this face 8)

  • Do you think N.C. State will be good enough to really challenge in the ACC? Totally agree on UCLA, I believe they will be somewhat better in 2011, but 2012 looks better for them especially with the Wear twins. Am I off base? It must really be fun to be a Michigan State fan these days, but that being said Purdue looks set up for a major Final Four run. What is the problem with Texas? I know they had some injuries last year, but Jai Lucas looked lost and will he get playing time this coming season? Thanks for the insight tsmooth. Are you a Kentucky fan? If your not thats cool and you give an unbiased opinion without an ax to grind, unlike that idiot Kansas fan. Don’t worry about the length when it comes to basketball!!!

  • I guess the next article on Kentucky will read “Kenny Payne to UK” it’s a done deal….

  • Oh yea! Awesome recruiter who should become a head coach one day.

  • Yes, I do think NC State will be able to challenge in the ACC. Why? Well, the only teams that appear to be better on the surface are Duke and UNC. Maryland, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Clemson will be at or near the bottom of the league. Miami is a sleeper, and can beat any team on any given night because they have talent, they’re just very young. Virginia and Virginia Tech will be good. UV because they have a very good recruiting class coming in, and VTech because Malcolm Delany returns.

I agree with your UCLA statement. Howland needs at least 1 more recruiting class to replenish his roster after so many transfers and defections. I don’t think too much of the Wear twins. UCLA and UNC are giving 2 scholarships to the same player. Both are undersized and underskilled. They were overhyped coming out of high school. I’ll stand behind what I’m about to say: The Wear twins will amount to nothing in college basketball.

Purdue and Michigan State will be very, very good teams, but their hopes rest on two stars who are coming back from injury: Hummel and Kalin Lucas. They’ll go as far as their stars can take them.

Texas had a major chemistry problem this year. Barnes could never figure out a suitable rotation. I mean, they had tons of talent on that team, but he couldn’t figure out what pieces went with each other. Cory Joseph is the answer at PG, and Tristan Thompson will help out a lot in the post. Jai will get playing time, but he’ll split time at PG and SG. J’Covan Brown, Balbay, Jordan Hamilton, Justin Mason, Jai, and Joseph will all share time at both guard spots.

No problem, man. I follow/cover college basketball to a “T”. Kentucky fan now? No, lol. I did watch a lot of UK games when Tubby and Pitino were there. I’m not a big Cal fan, you see. I grew up in Memphis, live in Memphis, and cover the Memphis Tigers, so I guess you can say I’m a Memphis fan. Generally, I’m a fan of college basketball, and for all those that have said I down UK, I just state facts, but I did watch a lot of UK games this year.

Thanks for the kind words, man. If you have a Facebook, get at me. The name is Taylor Davey.

  • Is it really a done deal now??

  • It’s done.Just waiting on the University P.R. to make it official…

  • Hmm..Interesting..

Do you mind me asking for a link or what your sources are?

  • Only thing I heard was that he was on campus interviewing… that is a good sign but not sure if that alone makes it a “done deal”.

In any case, we hear that the guy is a great recruiter but how about his coaching ability? Anything there?

It was always good to hear John Wall and Bledsoe mention Rod Strickland as being a good teacher to them. If Payne is replacing him, I hope he can coach too.

  • On a side note, any truth to the rumor that Royce White committed to UK today? Just a message board rumor

  • No link….It’s from a reliable source.That’s all I can say…

  • Haven’t heard anything on Royce,probably just a rumor.

  • Royce has repeatedly said he doesn’t want to play college basketball

  • OK. I hadn’t heard of him being hired there so I had to ask

  • You got it and thanks for sticking with the stories on here and giving an honest view point. I don’t mind anybody stating the facts about Kentucky and as far as memphis goes Iam a fan all the way back to to the days they were Memphis State and that awesome 1985 team coached by Dana Kirk with Keith Lee being the main man. Yes, I liked them when Cal was their and wanted like heck for them to beat Kansas! My name by the way is Mark Kinnett(funky last name I know) watch for my friend request on facebook! I thought I studied the games and teams well, but you are more knowledgable and you seem right on with your info. See ya on facebook Taylor!

  • WOW. Memphis State lol. Fun fact: My mom and godmother went to school with Keith Lee, and my dad played on the Memphis JV team, and occasionally scrimmaged against Andre Turner, Baskerville, Keith, and even Elliot Perry.

I’ll be lookin’, man. Don’t be caught off guard with my age…

  • Just remember, I’m wise beyond my years…..

  • Your 17 right? Age doesn’t matter to me. What i’m looking for is someone who studies the game like I do and will give coaches and teams their honest opinion whether they like them or not(i.e, feathephog25). I sent you a friend request or at least I think it was you. By the way did Dana Kirk die recently? I eat sleep and drink sports!!! And I’m 45 and married with two kids, but what I’m most passionate about is college basketball and pro football! That was what I first remember watching as a kid around the age of 5. Let me know if that was you I sent a friend request too. I wish the college basketball season started right now. Is Calipari leaving? Surely to goodness he will at least stay a two more years with the players we have coming in.

  • No friend request, man, and yes, I am 17.

Dana died about a month and a half ago.

Same can be said for me except I’m passionate about any and all sports. I can talk hockey, soccer, hell, even rugby.

Cal is staying. He used the rumors to get a better contract, and I see him staying at UK for at least a good 6 years. UK is the prominent position in college basketball, and he’s restored the fan base/tradition there. Gotta give it to Coach Cal, he does sell the shit out of a program.

    College basketball never end, man!!

  • what’s your profile pic of?

  • I would add you as a friend on FB ts, I just don’t “Do” FB is all. Hell I don’t even text.

  • Done deal is a bit overboard. The staff was seen courting him at 2-3 Lexington RR’s. It’s looking very likely, but “done deal” is stretching it a bit.

  • The Royce White commit is a rumor, stay off the message boards at CP, they are flipping rumor central with no back bones hardly ever.

  • OK. I saw where you cover the Tigers. Cool! I think I saw your my space page, but not facebook. My profile pic is of me with my arms out looking kinda goofy at Christmas time. Married to Danielle and have two little girls maybe that will help you find me on facebook. Since I’m having trouble connecting with you on facebook.

  • LOL. Blas, I “DO” FB. I text, call, FB, twitter, and what-have-you.

@Mark WOW. I gotta delete my myspace. Forgot I still had that. Funny pic, btw. LOL.

  • That was my same thought, but once Strick got removed to an “administrative” role, the writing was pretty much on the wall that Payne would go to UK

  • ^^^^^^^This^^^^^^^^

  • blasphemy-

It’s a done deal…I’m not a bit “overboard” and I’m not “stretching” anything…If I didn’t trust my source I wouldn’t be on here saying anything.I was told it has been a “done deal” for awhile…It really doesn’t matter if you believe me or not..

    Go Cats!

  • I tellz it likez it iz.

  • I’m not doubting your sources, but if it was a “done-deal” from the get-go, he would have been hired yesterday and news would have leaked. I don’t doubt that he will be here, nor do I doubt he will be our coach WITHIN a couple of days (90% chance is what I give it simply from observing, though this chance is probably wrong given I have no stats nor insider info to back it) My argument is that news would have been linked, that’s all. Once again, not doubting your sources, just saying logic tells me otherwise.

  • ….would have been **leaked** that’s all……

  • R. Strickland will still be there, for day to day operations. Not a replacement as much as an addition from what I understand.

  • yea dawg!!

  • Looks as if it’s starting to get “leaked”….

    Per Jeff Goodman….

Source told FOXSports.com that it’s basically a done deal with Kenny Payne to Kentucky. Source also says he will take a pay cut to go to KY. about 2 hours ago via TweetDeck

  • Fair enough.
