St. Benedict’s Duo Ready for Rutgers

As part of his coaching duties at St. Benedict’s Prep, Scott Smith was in charge of scouting future opponents.

On one occasion while scouting Cardozo High School in Queens, Smith ran into one of his own players doing some research of his own.

“I went to Forest Hills to watch Cardozo and Forest Hills and Mike Poole would be there,” recalled Smith, who left St. Benedict’s when former head coach Dan Hurley departed for Wagner College.

“I would always see Mike Poole at every event. If we were playing Cardozo, he would watch Cardozo. He’s one of the most visible high school players you’ll see from New York City. He’s very passionate about the game.”
