  • Coach K Says Irving Will Transform Duke

NEW YORK –-After winning the NCAA championship last month in Indianapolis, you wouldn’t think Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski would want to change too much.

But Coach K says the addition of a single player to the 2010-11 version of the Blue Devils will  transform the team’s entire offense.

“We’ll change our whole offense, the way we play because of Kyrie,” Krzyzewski said Wednesday at the New York Athletic Club, referring to incoming freshman point guard Kyrie Irving of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick High School.

    • I have been a Duke fan for the last quarter century. I am not sure I have ever been more excited about an incoming freshman than I am now for the arrival of Kyrie Irving. I know people love Dajuan Wagner as the best player to come out of NJ, but he was an undersized 2. As great as he was, he didn’t handle well enough to be a pg and wasn’t big enough to play the 2 spot. Kyrie is a legit pg and in my opinion will go down as the best player to come out of the garden state. I think Jay Williams would have held this claim prior if not for the accident. Hopefully, he helps them repeat!!

Good luck Kyrie at the next level and beyond. You are rep’g NJ very well both on and off the court.
